Wow, thanks for the positive response, any worries I had, have been absolved. This community looks good, friendly, better than some I've seen. This was extremely helpful for me, hopefully others with similar feelings.

I think with Hanako's route that's to be expected. You don't know much about her. Her route is quite a ways different from the rest of the heroines since Hanako's deals with her psychological trauma.
Good insight, I've yet to conquer the rest of the heroines. I'm glad Hanako's path isn't the norm for the rest.

You could take a look at
Fakku Recommends! to see other translated VNs. The ones in the recommended thread are of very good quality (and of notable fame) so its a good place to start for first timers. A majority of VNs remain untranslated, but there are
also ways to play them too. Your mileage may vary.
Thanks, very informative; also I'm glad that there is good things to expect. I'll try my hand at the untranslated one again. No use standing on the edge anymore, time to dive in.

Also, don't sweat the emotions you get from playing a VN. They're visual
novels for a reason. It's completely normal, unless you all of a sudden feel like a violent psychopath afterwards. I'd suggest you see a therapist then.
Huh, that's so obvious, why didn't I look at it like that; a visual novel is a novel. I don't know why I was distinguishing them as different. That's good advice, also I'll heed your warning; in preparation, I've constructed a glass cabinet with "In case of violent psychopath tendencies, call therapist," and a phone inside. haha
