PC Elitism

If you grew up using a PC playing numerous games that employ dedicated servers, modding tools, open source, etc. you'd understand. Why are you even concerned with PC gamer's plight? It's not like they're attacking you (unless you work at Infinity Ward, in which case I'd love to hurt you).

I used to play online games (like Halo) a lot with consoles, while playing games on the computer as well. I can say that generally, interacting with PC users is much more enjoyable/tolerable for various reasons (not always).

Also, the worst part of MW2 is Infinity Wards removal of the lean function... truly awful. I'm pretty sure all experienced snipers (on the PC anyway) used lean and would not be able to imagine playing CoD4 without it!

I think 10-year-olds generally have more difficulty trying to configure a router than setting up a console.

I could say that "this is what console fanboys are like, ignorant of them being smart and aware of everything in the gaming industry", but im not going too.

And it's not bullshit, console fanboys are indeed stupid, ignorant about gaming. They think they now everything about the game, game companies , how the market works etc. This is certainly not the case and they only know the facts that benefit their console and will only argue those points and completely ignore yours.

How do i know this? Because most of my friends IRL are console fanboys. They are stupid and ignorant and have no idea what they are talking about. Hell i even play my Xbox more than my PC nowadays. But what i can say from experience is that the majority of the PC community are much more civilized and respectful people compared to the majority of the console community.





Obviously because gaming started and was popularized on a PC. The console and gaming industry has benefited mostly from PC community innovation and wouldn't be what it is today without them. See the PC community helped 'create and innovate" games, and obviously if you created something you'd have more knowledge about it than someone who uses it.

Say if you were the person in a who help make, created and perfected the Ipod. It took you over 7 years to perfect and create it. Then a new guy comes along, he makes a new generation of Ipod so successful that the company decides that you shouldn't deserve any of the shares or money at all and gives it all to the new guy. This is how the PC community feels right now

I'd say console fanboys of Sega Saturn and Super Nintendo, etc. know more about games than anyone else.

Look on the bright side, most PC elitists know computers pretty damn well. At least you can ask them about computer problems. Console (especially Xbox and PS3) fanboys are nothing but a bunch of idiots who are still whining about which is better graphically and spew bullshit about how Nintendo sucks. Makes it fun to tell them that both the Wii and the DS outsell both consoles by several hundred thousand units.

Way to stereotype. I consider myself a smart, knowledgeable console fan. Just because you have stupid friends, doesn't mean all of us who prefer consoles are like that. I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of ignorant PC gamers out there too.

Well, first off, your friends are not everyone. As obvious as it sounds, it seems as thought your way of thinking is that since 100% (or a high %) of your friends are ignorant/stupid, a high % of everyone is like that. Well, over here, only about 30% of the people I know that play consoles are ignornt/stupid. The ones that aren't know that they don't know everything about the gaming industry, orthe games they play. They also know that from the beginning, PC users have had it better than consoles.

Take Team Fortress 2 for example. On the Xbox, it has 5 maps and 9 classes (each with 3 weapons TOTAL). The PC version however, has over 15 maps, custom maps, umlimited servers, more than twice as many weapons for each class. Pc's last update was around a month go (I think). Xbox version's last update? 4 months ago, and all they fixed were bugs/glitches.

It used to be console users who were angry at PC users, but since the quaity of console games is rising closer to PC, the PC users are expecting their games to be pushed higher also, so that they stay just as far ahead of consoles as they used to.

They may have taken out some things for teh PC verson on MW2 that were in MW1, but all it did was make then closer to eachother, not worse than consoles.

Now I'll have to disagree with you here. First, maybe PCs did get gaming started, but I doubt they were the ones that popularized it. I have a hard time thinking that a PC popularized gaming beyond what the NES accomplished. Second, the PC community certainly did help further games, but don't think that they deserve all of the credit.

... I don't even know where to start; if that isn't a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black, then I don't know what is. That's the attitude I'm talking about. PC gamers, on average, are certainly not any more intelligent than console gamers. I'll be fair and say that my attitude towards PC elitism is exaggerated, but so is this crap about console gamers being ignorant, loud-mouthed, punks.

What about gaming on the PC makes a person more qualified as a gamer? Consoles are just as important to the history and current development of the video game industry as any use of a PC.

well in truth console games are played by a much larger verity of children because of the misconception that pc games are for nerds. You have a much larger user base in the 11-18 year old market playing games like halo on consoles which leads to the assumption that consoles are filled with retard kids. Not all console players are stupid immature children but they do appeal to a larger fan base and thus attract a larger percentage of idiots. It's like comparing the general public who play WoW to those who play a lesser known niche game such as Dark Age of Camelot; both games have retards but the sheer volume of retards that patrol the boarder of Azeroth far outnumber.



Well... Not that it makes a better gamer but everything you see today on consoles is because of the advances made in/on computers. Consoles today aren't much more than glorified computers and the real evolution of these systems is mostly due to what has been done with computers. In short, consoles could not exist as they are without the pc whereas the pc has thrives despite the consoles. I believe the only real advantage pc's have seen due to consoles is it has helped the general population reconsider their "nerd only" stance on computers. Games like Doom and Duke Nukem are the reason Halo exists.

Fine, but just as well, PC gaming may never have taken off as anything more than a backwards hobby (e.g. Commodores/Amigas) if it wasn't for Nintendo. I don't think anyone could argue that Nintendo was the biggest factor in bringing about a turn around of the Video Game Crash of 1983. PC gaming may not have continued to exist if it wasn't for the NES, a console.

I don't agree with you, I don't believe the NES has anything to do with the evolution of computer gaming.

I install modchips in my consoles so I don't have to pay for games. Hah! If I do enjoy a game/company, I will buy it though. Atlus games, for example.
