Hey guy, just a quick question here.
So, for my team, I'm looking for a good support/disrupt-type Pokemon, but not some of the common ones, like Rotom, Kefki, Sableye, and Glicor.
I'm looking into Blissy and Slowbro, but don't know where to start. Suggestions?
First, you gotta ask yourself what kind of support you want. Usually it's either hazards or status, but I know some pokemon that can do both. Second, what kind of hits it needs to survive. No pokemon can suck in all kinds of hits and stand strong so you need to decide which side of the bulk to focus on. In other words, which side to compromise. Third, whether it's gonna be a full-on wall or will it need to be able to fire off some hits as well. This is important as sometimes, it is the lack of these small hits that end up costing you the game.
So with that, here are some sets I think can be usable. Choose/modify based on your team needs.
Slowbro @ Eviolite
252 HP 252 Def 4 SpD
Regenarator, Bold
- Scald
- Slack Off
- Toxic / Yawn
- Thunder Wave / Flamethrower / Yawn
Great physical wall, can even take weaker special hits if the need arises. The moves are imo self-explanatory. Spreads out annoyances and with Yawn, may open the room for a set up sweeper.
Ferrothorn @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet / Shed Shell
Iron Barbs, Sassy / Relaxed (Can be Careful / Impish without much difference)
252 HP 248/4 Def/SpD
- Stealth Rock / Spikes
- Leech Seed
- Protect / Power Whip / Gyro Ball (use -Speed for this)
- Thunder Wave / Spikes
Leech Seed / Protect for recovery, and generally annoying the opponent. TWave is to make your team opponent a lot slower, this set was excellent last gen. Slightly less so this gen due to Steel bulk nerf and electric TWave buff, but it is still very good due to its nice resistances. Set up hazards, attack sometimes, recover.
Blissey... eh. Don't get me wrong, it's really good at walling special hits, but it is too predictable to my liking. One Taunt and it is done.
Other great options include Celebi, Jirachi... the base 100s legends. They learn quite extensive support pool and can be made to work. Celebi for example can function as a great cleric (Heal Bell). If you can provide more info I think it would be easier to help.
Don't get Shuckle. It sucks. You can have 500 base defenses but without the HP to actually let you stay alive through the punishment, it's useless. Aggron too, but 2 glaring x4 weakness to strong physical moves? Ehh. And does it even have a support pool? Ehh...
