Fact 1) It only becomes annoying the second time you play the game, and even then it's good to rewatch. Only in a third playthrough would it really be bothersome.
Fact2)Yu Yevon is not the final boss, it's Braska's Final Aeon. It's just like in P3. Why do you always bitch about this? God damn.
Fact3) It's a matter of preference. I don't like to have my white mage to only be able to cure people. I like him to be able to do everything so as to be more useful in battle.
Now here's some other facts:

Let's take FF7, which we can assume to be a defining piece of the FF line.
-Fact: Cannot skip cutscenes
-Fact: Final boss can be beaten in ONE HIT.
-Fact: everyone can equip the same armor and materia, meaning the only difference between characters is their weapons (Which ultimately have very little mechanical differences between characters) and their limit breaks.
I agree that FFX isn't a great game, but I don't think mechanics are the reason.
To be fair the one hit kills is just glitching Vincent with his best weapon, so you can' do it by playing normally. While you cant skip the cutscenes nearly all of them occur in text boxes meaning you at least fast forward through them. Also another difference is that back when FF7 came very few games had skippable cutscenes, while when FFX came out nearly all of them did. As for equipment all final fantasy games are like that with the only difference being weapons and armor is divided into classes (heavy, light etc) so while not all the characters can have the same armor it's still pretty much identical. Final Fantasy really doesn't place a lot of emphasis on customization.
I personally think FF7 is the best final fantasy and that FFX isn't the worst it still sucks. There many reasons but the main one for me is that all the good FF's have a good story. FFX does not.
