Sengoku Rance

Ok finished the whole story (awesome) now im gonna give the alt routes a shot. But im stuck on turn 35. Im tryiing to take over the first Mourai place and I just cant seem to do enough damage....Quite annoying really.


Oh and heres a little trick I learned through the game that no one else seems to have posted.

Any battle your involved in that drops an item will ALWAYS drop an an item if you reload but the item can often (if not always) change. So if you find yourself looking like you may run out of certain items (like the appreciation ones) which may happen if you get alot of drums and JAWS screens then when you get one of those reload and do the battle again. At one point I had I think 9 of the +4 cups. Tonnes left over at the end

And now my questions

My question is about the carvery troops I dunno why but ive never been able to capture one (and you need it for one of the CGs....im gonna try to get em all) can they not be captured on the first plaything or am I just REALLY unlucky?

Question 2- Im getting myself a new computer soon, Is there any way to Xfer over my saved games? I really have no strong desire to start again (it is a fun game sure but the start is quite dull, it isn't until you have about 1/2 the map and an actual selection of decent generals it gets fun.

The bonuses you can pick at the start of a new game +. Do those interfere with your ability to use the alternate routes? Or can I use them safely and still do them all (I wanna do the Ran Isoroku and Kenshin routes. The Monkey and demon Kind I might do a long time down the track)....I'm actauly willing to start again on my 2nd play through if I can get some stuff to make it easier.

And final question. Is the 2nd play through harder? I set it on the same difficulty yet im finding it to be a TONNE harder. Annoyingly harder.

By "carvery" I'm assuming you mean the Takeda's cavalry units. I think it is possible to capture them. Take somebody who increases the chances of you capturing enemy commander ("Defeated warrior's hunt" skill or "Sticky Ground" for mages). I do now that you can't capture Takeda's Four Generals on first playthrough (except the tactician guy who surrenders to you when you conquer them).

I think it's possible to move your save file somewhere (i.e pendrive, external hard-drive etc.) and, once you install the game, put them back into saved games folder and load it in-game.

That's how "altered/full/whatever" saves that you can download from internet work...but I have never tried it myself.

Don't know anything about 2nd playthrough being any more difficult, unless you changed difficulty. Maybe it's just one of those "bad streaks", when computer starts trying to rape you? My second plathrough is/was pretty normal until I got into Kill the Monkey route, which slightly sped up declaration of war by some houses, but that's it.

Not sure if bonuses interfere with anything...although the House Bonuses (starting with major characters from given house) can make gameplay much more complicated, as the House of those character will be hostile to you from the start. Having Takeda being from at war with you is...not good.

Tough, for almost all Houses (Uesugi and Hojou specifically) you will need to clear their respective routes (Kenshin and Ran IF) to get them in the first place. As for extra "minor" characters (Shizuka, Gekko) they don't change anything, same with "extra" items.

And just in case, you can only do one IF route per game, so you'd need four games in total to clear all routes you mentioned.

ive been told by multiple people that you can do all if the if routes in one game. All you need to do is save right before they are set to start. The game im doing right now, assuming I ever get past where im stuck I should be able to do both Ran and Kenshin routes around turn 45ish. If I save on that turn do one of the routes then load back to the turn i should be able to start the other skipping those first 45 turns....I hope :p

Ah, if you mean something like this (i.e having a game in which upon one of decision you can enter one route or the other) then yeah, it can be done.

I just through you wanted to do every route one after another in same game...didn't thought about loading earlier and going into another route...sorry about that.

Yup that's what I did for the Kenshin route then the Ran route, you get the extra bonus too I believe for beating the game with more routes finished I beleive. Like if you had two done before, you get 15 for true iso and ken, then you get 20 for beating the ran because all 4 are finished. So you should have about 35 when you start a new game plus whatever left over points you had.

About to start my second game though I do not know which bonuses to use. Anyone have any advice on which ones to use for a 2nd game?

Battle permits.

That or extra "action fans" per turn.

It would probably be best if you could afford them both, but if you can't, then it's pretty much down to personal preference...

Battle permits allow units above 1000 men to independently attack hostile nations/houses with great effect (especially when you pick a unit with a good captain), while extra action fans allow you to do more moves/events/other stuff per turn.

I would say get the extra fan, more turns means you can prepare quicker.

Battle permits are incredibly useful early on however due to usually not getting them until around what turn 61? But there's the troop requirements that come into play, but incredibly useful when trying to fight off larger countries or maybe take over Takeda before they start Commander Rushing you.

I have found it to be really really useful certain amount of troops.

Assemble at least 12 commanders which will make up a full six choice for a single attack or defend that has ubar stats with sufficient troop numbers for what they are using.

That way you'll always be able to do one strong attack or defend per turn or two.

Battle Permits work in a certain order, they always attack castles in your territory under taken by enemies first. Then they will attack enemy castles in enemy territory next. It doesn't matter how horrible the commander is, just give him the battle permit, he will succeed even when all troops die in the process.

Which in that case, only your limitation is the gold you can afford to patch the unit up after each battle permit attack xD Its tad op in my opinion cuz it basically bumps up the attacks you can do from 1-3 per turn to like 6-9 attacks per turn depending on how many battle permits you use and how many times u attacked xD

I've done things like seeing an really strong defenders at castle which I just suicided 200 guys in a unit in order to make AI waste units defending against an feigned attack and if 2nd attack reveals weak defenders instead of the full takeda cavalry xD then I send my bestest and win easily and take over the province with little effort >.>

However if you use some of your bestest commanders and have them take battle permits, they tend to do their attacks with minimal dead xD

SO for the second playthrough I should use exra action fans and operation permits? I would assume that using those might destroy the weaker houses in the beginning. However there is one thing about the operation permits that I do not understand. Do units keep their size that they had during previous playthroughs in a 2nd game. Or do they revert to normal again?

They revert back to normal.

Honestly, I don't see a 1000 plus troop unit in my army until turn 30/40+ , unless you invest loads of money into given unit.

I personally preferred fans, because I like to capture areas myself (If you want something done right, do it yourself), and it allows me to do more events, particularly those contributing to powering-up some chars/satisfaction bonus. And if I remember the max amount of fans there is, is about six or seven. With that many, i often found myself out of idea on what to do next...because it was all done.

Believe me, ALL ALICESOFT games are awesome. :D

For one, i still can't get enough of sengoku rance 7 even now.
