i gotta agree that was a great game....it was really sad as heck tho at that one part at the end. and anyone who did'nt feel really bad has no heart x_x. but i'm glad it turns out ok, but i still feel sad tho that they have such short life spans......if i was in his shoes that would just kill me on the inside anthropoid dog or not it was still someone important no matter what anyone says...
I liked it, but it didn't tug on my emotions that much, probably because yuuichi was such a logical and pragmatic person I kinda felt emotionally detached from all the characters. I've played alot of sad VN and eroge but the only one to really make me cry was Kana: Little Sister.
Well I'll have to agree that Yuuichi isn't the type of person I would choose to play as in a game that messes with so many deep emotions. His coldness towards dogs in general really pisses me off. He even considered leaving Mikan there to die during the prologue, and only helps her after he's back. If it were me, person, cat, dog, anthropoid or not, I'd be there to lend a hand.
However, his words mask an inner kindness that he has. I immediately connected with him because of the hard life he's lived, his views in life, and the lack of the usual perverted personality I see often in eroge. Even when treating the dogs and Kuu, it's not like he's doing it out of simple lust. I think he's ultimately kind on the inside, and it certainly shows during the Risa ending. He's composed, even
when Mikan is kidnapped, he tries to act cool and act as the leader of the pack by not being desperate, but in the end he cries like a baby when she returns.
Silvie is also a good example. He lends the money to Risa even though he knows she can't pay him back, and yet he's willing to consider the money the value for Mikan's adoption.
I think I'm satisfied with the Risa ending because the closeness between Silvie and Mikan. They're like sisters, and Silvie's personality would have it hard to accept being separated from Mikan. The other "neutral" ending I've got, she's still around with Yuuichi since Risa can't stick to a boyfriend, ever. It's unfortunate but I have really no interest in Risa or Nadeshiko at all, though the last has a bit more of my sympathy for various reasons ( Taking in Kota and raising her to be a great dog despite her past, owning a pet shop, being happier around animals more than people, etc... )
I'm still to go all the way towards Nadeshiko's "good" end. I think I've seen most of it, and know more or less what happens in the end. (I can't compare much more terrible seeing Mikan in that situation was than seeing Kota have to take out that tiger, even if she was emotionally hurt in the end. )
On the other hand, I can't get a boner out of this game anymore. I'm grateful for the great story and amazing game, so I think that makes up for it nonetheless.
I've also made my mind to do two things: Hang a Wanko to Kurasou (by the way, is the literal translation 'Living with Puppies'? I haven't checked the dictionary yet but from my shitty understanding of Japanese that sounds about right ) poster in my room. Two, I want to make a one, maybe two page strip about this. It might be sad, but I think I won't be satisfied until I know everyone is happy.
Edit:
Thinking about it, it also pisses me off how the author has made antrophoid dogs much like normal dogs when it comes to laws and regulations. Regular pet laws are still lacking, and yet they seem to want to treat anthropoid pets as just simple animals. Kidnapping, simply a "theft" or something like that? When Mikan, or any other dog in this game, would be much more worthy a human than a good chunk of the human population itself? It may feel disgusting because, to us, the idea of anthropoid animals is and will always stay in fantasy, while in their reality they've been around for as long as humans can remember them.
I'll also have to agree with
Senbozakura. It would be certainly great to have such a lovely dog as Mikan or Silvie, but I would probably avoid that even if I had the chance. Their lives aren't as long as ours, and I am absolutely sure both my mind and my spirit would break to a point of no return upon their passing. When Mikan got kidnapped, my blood pressure rose so high I thought I would pass out. If that's what happens to a fictional character, reality would be much, much more tragic.
Edit2:
I also got my hands on the Full version of the Opening and Ending sequences for the game, if anyone wants them. I'm planning on hosting it on my website along the game ISOs as a direct download, too, if anyone is having trouble downloading from Megauplawd. Just let me know.
