SW has a single enemy, the Droids... But w40k has given foes such as the very hi-tech Tau, the deathless Necrons, the ever numerous Tyranids (I FUCKING HATE THEM!!!)... The Dark Eldar and Eldar are neutral, i think... Also true in SW is the numerous planets and galaxies while in w40k wars are mostly based IN the planet... No battles were fought in space...@shotgunorg: oh but there is... In DoW II, the Blood Ravens try to stop Tyranid infestation in their claimed planets... I also read somewhere that some of the chapters also had to control the world their primarch has set...
Also in SW, only very FEW are melee units... Included of them are some droids (Grievous' bodyguard) and the Jedi and Sith (i didnt see any one of them carry a laser rifle).... Whilst in w40k... Almost ALL units are equipped for melee...
Also i noted that in the SW universe the wars are fought by firefights and no melee items... But in w40k no buildings are in the battlefield, just the pockmarks and open spaces... Also, they fight HEAD ON...
Unless your fighting in Cities of Death where most of the time the entire planet is covered with buildings.

lol dont you know tau suck at close combat,even an imperial guard could out knife a tau fire warrior.
Most planets the battle take place are either barren or jungle-ey since they bomb the hell out of the planet before descending
Although a bigger challenge would be making missions for the players.I meant if 1 guy choose chaos and the other is a space marine,the mission story has got to be neutral in a way.

True... I didnt know Tau suck at CQB... But i like their way of blasting you with edge lasers...In very unlikely events, my Officers with power swords always charge with glee into a squad of Tau Fire warriors XD

So thats why when i sent Assault Marines with upgraded chainswords the Tau fire warriors could decimate them in range but never stood a chance against melee (i wished for assault terminators to attack them but i had no resource points at that time)...

Why don't you just charge in a unit of Grey Knights with Chaplain against a firing line of FW? Look at how much damage it'll cause.

Did that... Here are my results in melee combat against certain types:
SPACE MARINE
2 grey knights vs. 7 Fire Warriors = whoah... thats really brutal...
3 assault marines vs. 6 shoota boyz = they really REALLY have to use jump packs...
2 assault terminators vs. 3 dark reapers = lost few terminators but wiped out DRs
force commander vs. 5 chaos marines = though they are nearly gone, FC got wounded
ELDAR
4 banshees vs. 6 Fire warriors = though they have high melee, endurance is low
2 seer council vs. shoota boyz = WtF?!
farseer vs. 3 space marines = OMFG?! they're dead... they are so dead...

Yup... I almost twitched at the Grey knights using their big spear/blades (?)... Though i feel bad for the chaplain getting left behind though...

I'd stick with Imperial Guard.

Ye, got the daemon hunters mod and i found it imba that u drop GK dreds right into the enemies base and storm troopers, although ull need a high amount of resources. Also i don't have soulstorm cos i reckon im happy wit dark crusade as it is.
Goin alon wit mods, you guys should try the Firestorm over Kronus mod, its close to the codex type mod and its pretty fun. Is currently in Dark Crusade only though.

Soulstorm eh? Too bad the Blood Ravens lost it there... Sgt. Cyrus of DoW II got hold of his rifle, the Cold Mercy when he was still a Scout... Also, was there a Techmarine unit in DC and SS? Or do i need to install a mod to gain access to them?

the adepta sororitas mod is also available for dark crusade and i dare say its way better than the ones in soulstorm.The canoness has a pretty addictive voice and the models are way better.

The programers they hired for soulstorm didn't know what the hell they were doing. They can't even tell you what some of the racial abilites are on the campaign mode

I believe there is a mod to combine all the full mod races(inquistion,adepta sororitas,steel legion and tyranids all into one)
Try fighting tyranids,they are irritating to deal with

Please dont make me remember the Tyranids... Even in the tabletop i still FUCKING HATE THEM!!!! And it still continues in DoW II...

I know what yu mean, i've played my friends soulstorm and i cant play dark eldar. i find the way that they build stuff imba and the whole army structure of both SOB and DE really bad. Its like Iron Lore added units from the codex and put in all the good ones without a thought for gameplay balance and interaction with prev expansions.
No wonder they went bankrupted after this game.
