Okay, I'm done with 終ã‚ã‚Šãªãå¤æ°¸é ãªã‚‹éŸ³å¾‹.
The one thing I like the most about this Visual Novel, other than its final epilogue was set after Alternative IV and musical epics, would be that this is the single most direct 'Thank You' in all MLA series towards Shirogane Takeru. The actual story was almost certainly told before MLA, but the epilogue is most likely set after MLA, where:
Shirogane Takeru saved the world, and was forgotten due to the cause and effect theory stuff.
At the end of MLA, I had felt intensely that:
Takeru was never properly rewarded for his sacrifices. That Meiya, Miki, Ayamine, Sakaki, Mikoto, Sumika had sacrificed their very lives for both his sake and humanity's, and after all that, even though the world was finally saved and Takeru was returned whole and innocent back to his own world, it was so... sad.
Takeru was an outsider. An innocent. That he did not resent in the end, the fact he was pulled such a terrible world was more than enough; that he had done so much to save the world and the world just forgot about him... His friends, his comrades, even the dead of that world will not remember his contribution has always been a thorn in my heart regarding MLA.
終ã‚ã‚Šãªãå¤æ°¸é ãªã‚‹éŸ³å¾‹ changed that. Even if it was a message addressed to the all those who have sacrificed to save the world, it was also a message directed at Takeru. Thank you, the light of miracle. Thank you for all you've done. Thank you, Meiya, Miki, Ayamine, Sakaki, Mikoto, and Sumika. Without all of you the light would've extinguished. Your sacrifices will never, ever be forgotten.
... And that's it for the sentiments. I no longer have any regrets parting with the hero called Shirogane Takeru in MLA, even if he can be an annoying as hell son-of-a-bitch sometimes.
Onto the actual Visual Novel. Well written, complete, and polished. Some of you probably have NO IDEA how many VNs out there did not even pass 1 of the above criteria. In addition to amazing musics such as quartet plays and violin solos and piano/violin duets... This is a VN you could literally melt into dreamland just listening to the music.
The storyline and dialogues are really well done and realistic. The common route and individual heroine storylines were incredibly well combined, not to mention that all the heroine storylines - despite being much shorter than the common - was properly thought out and did not cut corners at all. Each and every scenario was unique and realistic to the heroines (though if I really have to critique I would say that Liselotte made up with her grandfather a bit too easily, and that was the COMMON route), and even the protagonist can be pretty damn cool when he wasn't whining.
Sadly there was one particular CG for Miu that I was expecting, but did not actually find it even after 100% completion. I most likely had saw it in a dream after brain frying myself until 8 in the morning before sleeping, seeing Miu playing her violin on an endless grass meadow with music scores flying above her head and the bright, blue sky shining from above...
Orihara is still my greatest love though. Her character sprite was actually BETTER than her CGs - terribly regrettable, but whatever - and in my opinion has the best character out of all the heroines. Karen was pretty huggable as well, even though there were some 'issues' with her personality that the VN failed to address because of it's brighter theme.
Save/Load pages have cute chibi scribbles. AUTO WIN.
And finally, OH MY GOD I WANT TO PAT MIU'S HEAD MORE! *explodes due to cuteness over 9000*
Now, to some of the downsides of this VN.
1) No sound mode. Come freaking on man, this is a MUSICAL VN and you don't have a SOUND mode? Just who the hell made this engine?
2) There were some parts that felt slightly rushed (or writer's block), but thankfully that's only for like 0.0001% of the story.
3) Music-related inconsistencies. Can't really help it, but when it's supposed to be a violin duet and the music mixes piano into the tune is kinda... you know...?
4) All the heroine's routes are about the same level, but I must say that the sub heroines actually have better epilogues than the main ones (Btw the main ones are Miu and Orihara). It's not obvious, but Miu and Orihara follows similar settings and events despite the heroine branches, whereas the other heroines have totally different events scenes to suit their storyline. I personally think that Orihara's route is the true end because of the final few events of her route, but that's just my opinion.
The thing is, Orihara's epilogue was really subpar. Like the last of ALL heroines' epilogue, and Miu a close second. That's totally ridiculous, because even the sub sub super short route heroine Ritsuko had a more interesting ending than those two. =.=" And these two (Miu and Orihara) were supposed to be the main heroines. What a joke. >_>
5) There were so many times that I'd expected a new, individual song themed to the Miu and Orihara near the end of their routes, but they never came, so that was rather disappointing as well.
All in all, beautifully written. Another wonderful VN I will keep in my hard disk most likely until forever. When the number reaches 100 I'll make a new thread called called Fakku Top 100 and put my own list in it. ^_^
