I've owned both and they have their fair share of pros and cons:
Xbox360
+User Friend Interface
+Awesome Online Experience
+Nice, Hefty Controller
+Decent Backwards Compatibility
-Xbox Live is Expensive ($60/year)
-Some red ring alot (I've never had this issue though with the 4 years of my console)
-Not a good selection of JRPGs (Only one I like is Tales of Vesperia)
PS3
+Free Online Access
+Blue Tooth Friendly
+Dynamic Backgrounds
-Longer Loading Times
-You Have To Install Alot of the Games
-NO Backwards Compatibility (on the 60GB Model)
-The internet browser is REALLY slow (I run a fast connection at home and my games ran fine, the browser just sucks)
So that is just a very brief look on technical aspects, but in the end, I went back to my Xbox 360, I enjoyed the community, some of the games and such. The games on the PS3 don't differ much from the Xbox360 when it comes to FPS games with the exception of Killzone VS Gears of War. Overall, the 360 seems to have more online/FPS games (I'm not to hot for first person shooters myself) and the PS3 seemed to have a decent line up of single player games, although the only two I played worth platforming was Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Valkyria Chronicles (Although That's turned Based). They have Tales of Vesperia for the 360, (PS3 but it's Japanese only) and it's easily the best game I've played on a next gen console since The Legend of Zelda. With 60 hours+ of gaming, the live action, Japanese RPG will keep you going forever. There are a few RPG's that the consoles share, such as Eternal Sonata and Star Ocean, both of which, aren't the best. Eternal Sonata was turn based and was a total loli/shota fest, I couldn't take it. and I thought I'd try Star Ocean again, but I can't seem to get into it. Hell in the end it seems like you're buying the same thing with both systems having downloadable games, DLC's, demos, online friends and more. If you get the PS3, pick up Uncharted, it's more of an adventure game with guns, and an epic story, if you choose the 360 I suggest Tales of Vesperia, that's a fantastic game, hope something helps!
