His feet kicked the ground as they propelled him forward through the already dark forest furthermore deviled at the late hours. He felt the lactic acids building in his legs but he couldn’t to bring himself to stop. As he looked left and right, he could barely make out the faces of people he barely knew but have been bonded together on this world called Grixis.
“Don’t stop running, no matter what,” a middle aged militant man in his full gear called out to them all. Taking a quick glance back he called out again. “How far back are they now,” he yelled to another solider behind him.
“Sargent they’re twenty meters back, I think they’re all regulars!”
“You start firing if they get within ten meters private, we have to get to the next town or we’re going to be at this all night!”
The Sargent returned his focus in front of him, eyeing one of the survivors slowing down from fatigue. “Hey you,” he called out to him as he quickly ran towards him. He placed a hand on his shoulder and quickly hoisted him up right. “If you want to live you keep running, got it?!”
“Ye-yeah, I just can’t run any further,” the young man replied as he panted heavily.
“Look here son, I’m damn near forty and I have eighty pounds on my back, all you have to do is run, now go,” he shouted as he shoved him forward again just as gun ripped through the air behind him. He quickly turned around and brought up his rifle, peeping down sights that quickly became plagued by the undead.
“Harris, Benson six o’clock ten meters,” he yelled out as he thumbed his safety and began squeezing the trigger. As rounds flew into the black mass that flowed like a slow tide around the trees, two more soldiers ran to aid him.
“Sargent! We’ve lost contact with fire-team bravo about two mikes ago. Sternson was trying to get a hold of-“
“Don’t worry about that now Benson, everyone keep backing up! Harris do you have a spare barrel for the Mimi,” the Sargent called out to his squad light machine-gunner who let off quick bursts as he muttered loudly †˜mother-fucker’ repeatedly as he squeezed the trigger. Between his bursts and the well-aimed fire from the two rifle man the undead bodies fell even as more of the slow moving undead refilled their ranks instantly.
“At least we don’t have any Newly Dead-“from his left flank out of nowhere young man struck him in the neck with a baseball bat and promptly threw himself on top of the downed Harris, savagely biting into his cheek. “Fuck, Sarg- AHH,” he cried out as he brought his knees up and tried to thrust his assailant off with his legs, only to be dog piled by rotting bodies who dug their putrid flesh into his bleeding body.
“Keep running,” the young man heard the Soldier’s yell in the distance as he quickly ran aimlessly with the others between the trees as more dark figures began to slowly make their way towards them, seemingly from everywhere.
“Damn it, after all the trouble of getting to the fucking city…” he thought to himself. The burning in his legs returned and he brought himself to a halt. Echoing in the trees he heard moans of all kind nearly drowning the gun fire, and another strange sound that didn’t seem to belong…
“Sargent you hear that,” Benson cried out as he kicked a zombie in the chest, shooting it and returning his eyes forward.
“Yeah what the hell is that,” he replied.
“Alpha hold fire three o’clock, lift and shift,” a voice yelled out from their right. Concentrating to their left they held off from firing to their right as two more soldiers rejoined their squad. They quickly opened fire as the zombies got closer and closer.
“Are you all that’s left of Bravo,” Benson yelled out.
“Palmer and Stillmer went down, there’s was nothing we could do we have to pull back we had Newly-Dead on our tails, oh fuck they’re here! The two soldiers’ from Bravos began to open fire directly to their right as charging zombies with very little or no decay came running down the hill between the trees.
“All right everybody fall back then-“ the Sargent began when that ripping sound echoed again, this time he could feel it, it was much closer.
“Sargent, twelve o’clock,” Benson called out as he struggled to push a zombie back with his assault rifle. A haunting blue glow filtered past the undead and trees, casting long shadows that felt just as dangerous as the zombies themselves. Then seemingly out of nowhere, he watched entire torsos of zombies fly up above the rest as blood rained back down to paint them in a putrid defiled red.
“Everyone back,” he yelled out as he began to side step backwards in a hop, his head swiveling between his front and rear. More and more limbs and torsos began to fly up and forward as the outline of a tall dark figure with a large head began to show. He could see that the rear of the zombie front had turned their attention to this figure and were quickly dispatched by the brightly glowing blue light. After a few moments the figure made its way to the front, slicing all the way through the last zombie from the shoulder down through its right leg. It was then he could make out in horror what he was looking at.
It was a woman. A naked woman. A naked woman that stood seven feet tall at least. A woman with a large demonic metal helmet encasing a head that had to be at least twice the size of a normal human. A woman wielding a chainsaw with an ethereal-Mana blade.
“EVERYONE FALL BACK NOW, C.O.R.P.S.E!” Instantly the two men from Fire team bravo looked behind them, only to be quickly tackled by Newly-Dead.
“DAMN-IT NO,” Benson yelled as he drew his pistol, firing hopelessly into the violent pack that completely engulfed their position. He felt a hand grasp his shoulder and was pulled back with a hard yank.
“Benson get to the survivors and try to get them back on the road and keep going, don’t stop!” With that the Sargent shoved him backwards as he turned around, resuming to fire into the zombies as he backed up slowly. Doing as he was told, Benson turned and ran as fast as he could.
The C.O.R.P.S.E continued to slice easily into the undead, the large glowing blue blade effortlessly covering large arcs of death into the undead.
“Where’s the rest of your C.A.G.E, C.O.R.P.S.E?” Even with all his experience, the Sargent was afraid. He knew what †˜she’ was capable of. His words didn’t fall on death ears as her helmeted head glanced at him, the glowing pink light of the large singular camera lenses staring at him like an evil eye that seemed to burn right through him. Her right palm rose towards the Sargent and stayed locked onto him has her left arm continued to slice at the undead. Even when Newly-Dead charged at her, she spun, cleaving them all in half in a huge singular slash. Her right arm however, did not eve change its position.
Bringing his A.R up and aiming, he aimed at the grotesque form before him as she cleaved through the last zombie. She then finally turned to face him, her form and stature gnawing at his nerves.
“Where is the rest of your CAGE? Leave at once; there are people still present here.” As his words left his mouth, any courage he had left with him as she replied.
“Burn.” In a flash of light his body instantly charred as if he’d had been on fire for minuets. She turned her head to the side as her H.U.D continued to light up with useless warnings. Finally she outlines of people came on display along with the distance and she broke into a sprint as the crackling air of burned flesh softly echoed in the air.
“This can’t be how this ends,” the young man thought to himself as he scooted against the tree. He watched in horror as the zombies ripped flesh and organs out of the people he traveled so long with so indiscriminately. He watched as they slowly made their way towards him, cut off from any chance of escape. “Please…Grixis please help me…I know I’ve forsaken you for so long but please help me!”
Out of nowhere a blast of energy engulfed the sky in a bright yellow light, and the undead turned their attention to their assailant as she drove her Mana-Chainsaw through zombies that were piled on top of bodies, only to slice the recently killed bodies as well. As Newly-Dead rose from eating and charged at her, her drove its self forward in a kick, knocking its head right off along with it’s spine.
“What- what the hell is she,” he squeezed his fists tightly as he watched his horrific savior decapitate bodies and burned others to a crisp in a flash of light. As the last zombie fell, she turned her attention to him and quickly made her way over to him in a fast walk, fear strangling him as it glued him where he sat. She stopped only a foot away from him, her tall lean naked body intimidating him as her glowing “eye” in her helmet bristling with large blades looked down at him.
“Listen to me boy. Listen very carefully.” Her voice was deep and smooth, further adding to her confusing presence.
“Yes- what is it?” He watched her as his body trembled on the cold ground. She reached towards the stitching that ran between her breasts in an elongated s curve and pulled up on the glowing red treads. Reaching inside her chest she pulled out a weirdly shaped key. He fought hard to keep his stomach from invading his mouth.
“Take this key, and unlock my helmet.” He slowly reached for it and cautiously held it, his face grew with intense disgust from its origins and he brought himself up to his shaky legs. She lowered her head and the top blade that pointed towards him split open at the tip, revealing a small port. He quickly grabbed onto the back side of the blade and inserted the key, turning it to the right.
After a few seconds the blades spread wide open, and the C.O.R.P.S.E quickly threw the helmet off as she looked up, a smile breaking across her face as steam, blood and her light peach hair flew around her. The young man stared at her for a moment, lost in thought as his eyes slowly widened.
“She’s s-“ he started to think before her arm quickly found its way around the back of his neck. For a brief moment he started to blush before she pulled him into her; opening her mouth wide as she bit into half his neck, her teeth gripping into his flesh as the pressure of her bite started to suffocate him. He could feel how far she was reaching into him, his spine only centimeters from being crushed as well. “a monster…” Tossing her head up and to the side she ripped the entire left side of his neck off, sending blood everywhere. She dropped to her knees, letting his thrashing body fall to the ground as she chewed his flesh. With a single swallow she bent over backwards, her laugh almost like a roar as it echoed through-out the forest as her crimson red eyes gazed on a placid-blue moon.
