Remember last year, around this time?
Yeah, this happened : Seasonal Writing Contest
It sparked phenomenal interest in the Writing Section, and even caused a hefty amount of us to pick up our pens and start writing away. Piles and piles of great poems and stories were composed, and all of them were read and appreciated. Everyone had a blast trying to win it.
So, the month of December will come rolling in tomorrow and the Writing Section has been plagued with much inactivity (aside from the roleplays, of course). Given it's the festive season and the lethargic pace this section is going at, a writing contest sounds more than welcome in my opinion.
But right now, that's just it. That's only my opinion.
So to all of you that remain -- Do you think it's time we bring this section out of the gutter again? Do you think it's time to organize another contest?

Why not? It will certainly be a change of pace from the dreary times this forum has come across recently. And it is a chance to pit our writing prowess against everyone else, and to just enjoy reading and writing whatever we feel like. It's like a holiday in of itself.

I think it's a great idea and it brings back fond memories. I miss Grover...and Jerry.
I humbly self-nominate myself as a judge, if that's alright with everyone. I enjoy the occasional writing, but I prefer reading with an analytical and editorial approach a lot more. Plus; if dos wants to focus on the e-zine, I suggest allowing him to do so.
Also, we don't have to have busy moderators judge. I recommend contacting the previous winners and asking them if they would like to be judges. It would be fitting because Tsu would understand poems a lot more than I could attempt to. It would be ideal to have judges with differing perspectives. Those are my suggestions and I'd like to see this get off the ground.
In other news; Disgusting, you're hovering right at 999 posts and-OH MY GOD WHY IS MY AVATAR EFFECTIVELY WEARING A PARTY HAT?!

Though I'd recommend a mod or two involved as a judge, or a very active member of this section?

I think it would be a good idea if not to simply get them involved once again but in a responsible role. We saw them win and then dissipate from this section. As for TwilightEngel, doesn't she frequent the CTFG and your mansion, Rise? If not, I could hop on MSN and ask her personally.

Hmnm... I'd recommend not bothering Twilight. She's so busy that I haven't seen her posting for months.
And no, she hasn't been to CTFG, much less FAKKU in a while, seems that a psychologists life has finally gotten busy.

Well, I suppose we can go with Waar as a moderator judge if he has time. That is, unless any other writing forum frequenter would be willing to sacrifice their submission for a non-biased position.

That said, English is not Mibu's first language... so, I think there are many people outside of America whose first language isn't English but are still good with English. ^^

Actually, I am interested to see what you'd come up with if you were to participate. You've undoubtedly learned a lot since last year so I want to see how you've improved in a short-story format. I don't want to lose someone who could create a potentially great piece of writing. Needless to say I agree with you that people can possibly write well even if English is not their first language.

Not to mention, I have exams coming up this January, which is why I'm offering to help with the judging rather than write. As a writer, it takes a lot of concentration and time to write than judging, in my opinion.

That's a little surprising (disappointing), indeed. I still would like to see you attempt to come up with something if only for your benefit in English writing. The contest last year ended right at January 1st 00:00, so even then you could be prepared for your exams, but if you don't want to participate, I can't make you.
We only need a moderator to aid us in pushing to front page this one single time. As I recall last year, it was up for debate that it cluttered the front page with multiple posts. We'll be lucky if we get a post at all. So we'll have to develop a short and concise post that wouldn't interject on the submissions. Perhaps Waar can aid us in providing a front page post, or maybe not. At the very least, perhaps Gambler will help us out.

Well. I'm trying to talk to Jacob about this, I hope he doesn't mind it's thread on the front page.
EDIT: Jacob simply said "no promises" about it and went to sleep now. I've obviously linked the thread to him (more precisely, your post, Xenon).
