Nova Chasers (A space Western role-play)

Rick pops his head out of the meeting room to see Harris standing outside, with a freakish grin that made him jump.

"Augh! Oh, it's just you, Harris. Scared me there. Alrighty then."

He goes back in to use the intercom.

"Bohr, get your ass over here, pronto. Teal, bring the Princess with you. She's coming with us inside the dreadnought when we land."

((I really had planned to do the same thing artie, but without just turning right around into an apparent death trap))

Avery sat in the pilot seat, trying to figure out a way to tell Richard his plan was stupid as it was without making him sound...stupid. Yeah he could turn around in a matter of seconds, and then seconds later the ship would be kin to swiss cheese. Or they could just wait a bit and have a distinct advantage. At the current rate, they would realize their cheesy future in about 10 minutes, which was not enough time to rewire a few bomblettes and modify the cannons to make their intrusion onto the dreadnought a reality. He flipped the comm channel on;

"Richard, I know you're all ready to be big damn heros and what not, but I really really need to take to you right now."

"Really, Ave? You pick now to be a total wuss? Because I know I can fly through and make it happen, with a little help from Bohr. Now tell me, what does that say about you, huh? Bohr, we need some power to the thrusters, if you're already close to the engine room. Teal, help him out if you're nearby. You guys already know the plan, so as long as you can get out of the ship quick enough when we get inside, it's all good."

Harris remained in his bloodthirsty trance as he stood quietly by the entrance to the meeting room with a freakish grin on his face quietly muttering. "I'm gonna cut them up, let's see how the brain of an anarchist work. Are they retarded or are they like that themselves? we're gonna find out soon aren't we. He mutters as he slowly nods to his own question.

Avery was about to argue the finer points of the positive aspects of not having your ship punched full of holes, but he was already pissed off and knew he was going to be prone to saying something brutally honest. Which was likely to lead to someone filling out a hurt feelings report.

"All right fuck it then, but if we turn out spaced and looking like swiss cheese I will follow you to hell and say 'I told you so' for all eternity. Just say when so I know when I can start feeling like a jackass for listening to you."

((OOC: I got bored and edited the post.))

I sighed at Professor Bohr but dismissed it. Richard suddenly spoke over the intercom and I became bewildered, is he insane?, I thought to myself as I took the Princess' hand. She climbed out from under the bed and we both raced over to the meeting room. As I pulled out a chair for the princess, I listened intently to what Richard said to me and went to go help out professor Bohr. I walked down to the engine room and saw him pick up his shashka, "Bohr, is there anything I can do? You can trust me."

I squated down and stared at him and then I looked around. It was a jungle of valves and pipes and it almost confused me, "Yup, I know that I can be useful to you, Professor Bohr." My voice wasn't as confident as before but I was still dedicated to helping him.

((I changed mine too.))

I got to the engine room, and I heard the Captain's message again.

"That's fine by me."

After I pick up my shashka, I hear Teal speak about helping.

"Yes you can help. But be careful, if you touch the wrong thing, you can either burn your hand off or freeze it off. But to help me right now, I need you to get over here.", I say as I sheathe my shashka.

"I need you to tie a piece of cloth around my leg to stop the bleeding first. Then I need you to help me spin this green valve here."

I walked closer to Bohr and looked at the side of his leg. It was a bloody mess and I knew it had to hurt like crazy. I looked and saw a cloth on the floor. It was soaked in black oil. I sighed at the sight as I ripped a piece of my sleeve off. Professor Bohr flinched as I placed the cloth around his leg. I pulled it tight to try and stop the bleeding, "Is it helping?"

My eyes wander over to his arm where more blood dripped, "Do you need me to put cloth on that too?"

I tore my other sleeve off and quickly wrapped his wound, "There, good as new. Which valve did you want me to turn? This one, right?"

I spun the green valve until Bohr gripped my hand, initiating that it was enough. I smiled sincerely at him, "You a tough fighter, I hope you know that."

"Yeah, you have to be tough when you have a death warrant out on you. Now here, help me sync these capacitors. When I say now, hit the switch. It has to be perfectly in synch or else it could ruin the system. Yes, that switch there. Ready? Now!", I say while flipping the switch.

The switches turn the cooling system off for the anti-matter engines, letting the capacitors add energy to the anti-matter reactions, allowing them to increase output for a short amount of time.

"I can handle the rest now, Teal. Tell Richard, he has 9 minutes to get this ship rammed into the Dreadnaught, otherwise we could all die if I leave this system like this. Run!", I shout, shooing Teal out of the Room.

I hurriedly go over to the system screen and see the levels increasing.

"Now, all I need to do is bypass the flux generator, and shut down the dampeners."

I do both right from the system screen and the reactor kicks into overdrive.

It's either now or never.

Rick was waiting in the meeting room when Teal quickly came in and reported the situation.

"9 minutes? I'll only need 3."

Rick then makes a mad dash for the main front turret and mans it, shouting another command to Avery.

"Alright, Ave. We've got our power boost. Now, this is all you'll need to do. I want you to warp, by that I do mean warp-speed, towards those bay doors. I'll shoot the hinges out to open it, and you'll need to boost us into it for a crash landing. Got that?"

He begins to take aim at the main locks holding the door closed. Steadily...slowly...he eyes it, before letting the laser blasts fly. After a few minutes of constant shooting, it finally comes loose, letting the doors open.

"Now, Ave! Punch it!"

The ship sped up at an incredible rate and Harris lost his footing from the momentum, falling back he bumped his head on the wall of the corridor. Laying there for a while, Harris got back up, apparantly knocked out from his blood-thirsty trance. Looking around in quite a daze, his hand over the bump that was swelling on the back of his head, he gave a subtle swear and walked inside the med-bay.

Giving little thought to the mutilated corpse on the operating table, Harris quickly changed from his white, blood-stained lab coat and put back on his trademark hat and trenchcoat, loading full magazines for his FMG-9s and packing all the necessary supplies in his med-pack. He walks out with an innocent smirk on his face as he heads off to. . . nowhere, he realizes he's gonna have to wait till they reach the door before he can actually do anything so he leans against the wall by the door to the engine room, arms crossed and nodding his head to the song he hummed.

((OOC: ah, everyone is posting when I'm at work, T_T))

Avery put a scowl on his face, yeah he was unorthodox but this...well whatever. She's been through worse I suppose.

"Fi get ready for a quick jump, in and out of warp in under a second so we don't liquify ourselves crashing into the hanger."

It was so fast that you would have missed it if you blinked, but since Fi didn't blink, Avery could watch just how close he had come to being sheared in half in high resolution as many times as he cared to. The jump had brought them a little farther into the bay as he would have liked, not that he could really have guarunteed anything at that speed. Infinity had dropped from warp 3/4ths of the way through an exceptionally long cargo bay, and had miraculously missed almost everything except the integrated loading arm used for in-atmosphere loading/unloading. The ship had hit the crane length wise, which served as a sort of catch cable. Some metal had of course made it's way into the cockpit, and was staring down Avery a few centimeters away from his forehead.

"Hey look, it missed"


"Yes thank you Fi, I can see that"

"Just saying, that looks like it would have hurt"

"Oh no doubt about that, thank you for your astue observations."

"Anytime"

I felt the ship go into warp for a second, and then stop suddenly. I took that as my cue. I reversed everything I had done, with some degree of difficulty, making it just in time for the 9 minute limit of the overclocked engines.

"Whew. Made it just in time.", I say while wiping my brow of sweat.

"Now, to go rendezvous with the everyone else.", I say hefting my sheathed shashka and limping out of the Engine Room.

Rick groggily stood up after the crash landing into the dreadnought's hangar. He'll admit, this was probably the dumbest thing he's ever thought of, but hey, they were all alive and in one piece...hopefully.

He shook off some dirt from his pants and shoulders and went over to the intercom.

"OK, we're here, I gguess. Good job, everyone. Now, Avery, keep guard on the ship. The rest of us, including the Princess. And before any of you argue, I just want to say that it WILL take all four of us to get to the engine room and take this down, leaving only Avery here. Now, you tell me what's safer: making her a moving target with a deadly entourage, or putting her beside a sitting duck?"

((OOC: sorry guys my mom came to visit))

I quickly flipped switch as Bohr yelled now. He told me that we only had nine minutes and I had to run and tell Richard. I sprinted to the meeting room where Richard stood, "Richard, we only have 9 minutes to get the ship into the Dreadnaught!"

The ship hit warp speed for one second. I wasn't prepared for the sudden jolt of ship. I almost tumbled down to the ground as the ship crash landed. I held onto the table and I tried to regain my balance. I looked over at the princess who had a odd look on her face. She was gracefully siting there in her chair as if the crash didn't even phase her. She looked as if she was as ready to fight as I was. She looked strong.

Harris, hearing Rick's announcement, started to head towards the hangar door that lead out towards the Dreadnought's hangar but stopped at the sight of Bohr limping out of the engine room using his shaska as a makeshift walking stick. Harris took a look at Bohr's wound and the first aid skills administered on it and gave a small hum as he reached into his med-pack.

"Here, take two of these, they're pain relievers but not those types that make you drowsy however they won't have as much an effect as those," Harris said as he held out a medicine bottle to Bohr. "When we're done with the Dreadnought, I'll have to take a better look at that wound although that ripped up sleeve will have to do for now." Harris gave a chuckle as he saw the doors opening leading to the blazed hangar of the Dreadnought, flaming debris spread around the hangar and anarchists running amock in the chaos.

I take the pain pills from Harris and quickly take them.

"Thanks.", I say after swallowing the two pills.

The pills start to work pretty quickly, and the pain starts to subside. I jump out of the Infinity's hanger doors and to the hanger floor of the Dreadnaught. I catch a few of the Anarchists by surprise, and I quickly remove two heads again. Everyone else sees that, and grabs the nearest thing to them and starts coming after me. I haggardly block all of the attacks thrown against me, since I still have the gash on my arm. The attacks keep coming, not giving me a chance to attack.

I yell up to Harris, "Harris! I need some help here!"

"Bohr! Get out of the way!"

Bohr looks up to see Rick standing by the bay doors aiming right at the scuffle going on. Quickly, he dodges to the right, with the other guards distracted. Rick fires a Hercules round straight at the group, the flak shards spreading out and incapacitating and heavily injuring them.

"There's your support. Do with them what you will. Teal, Princess, get out here, now!"

Rick approaches Bohr and looks around his surroundings, taking in all of the bedlam in the hangar.

"Well, I'd say that worked better than I had hoped. OK, I'll take point with either you or Harris, and the other can guard the rear and the Princess with Teal. The engine room shouldn't be too far from here, so we're lucky. If we take out that, and also manage to find one of their warp drives in the process, we can not only put a hole in this monstrosity, but also prevent them from retreating and fixing everything. I want these guys taught a lesson, understand?"

((OOC: I expected more posts by now.))

I jumped down with the princess' hand in mine. After Richard give's his instructions I followed Harris toward the engine room, "Nina...can you handle a knife?"

I turned to look at her face, she had the same expression as before and she confidently nodded, "Do not engage in fighting unless both Harris and I are severely injured." I gripped her hand again and I quickened my pace as I follow Harris. Two men in red coats stood in front of an entry way. I took out a knife and gave it to the Princess. I pulled out two for my self as well, throwing them both into the neck of the man on the right. I let Harris handle the other one.

((OOC: the RP has lost it's momentum unfortunately))

Teal threw two knives that took out the anarchists guarding the entrance, Harris casually walked past the two corpses as the doors slid open revealing a small group of anarchists who were cowering behind a counter. Harris gave a smile as he raised one of his FMG-9s at the group and let loose a whole magazine of 9mm bullets, specially made by Harris himself that can penetrate most metals.

The group layed dead on the floor and some mortally wounded, screaming in pain as the caustic bullets ate away at their skin. Harris walked up to the counter, standing in front of them with his Mateba M6 revolver. "Those are special corrosive bullets containing a compound featuring Sodium Hydroxide and some other nasty stuff, here, let me put you out of your misery." Harris said as he placed the M6 point-blank on the anarchist's head who was screaming both out of pain and fear. With a grin, Harris muttered one final word for the anarchist and shot, it was a mess.

Harris quickly holstered his M6 and held his single FMG-9, pointing it at another door, in readiness of another wave of anarchists. Slowly walking to the door, with his FMG-9 still aimed and ready for whatever might come out, he stood by the door and gave a signal to everyone else. "Clear, let's keep moving forward."

Harris opened the doors that led to an empty corridor with a similiar door at the other end and watched as the rest of the team walked through. As the princess walked pass, Harris stopped her, "In the unlikely chance that Teal or me would be injured to a severe condition, I want you to administer either of us with this," Harris said as he handed her an injector, "Simply stick it in their neck and wait till it injects all of the contents in. Harris had a sour expression on his face, he didn't want to talk to the princess if he didn't need to but was still pissed off talking to her, even more pissed when she gave him a bow and walked off. Harris scoffed as he followed the rest of the team into the corridor.
