Even amist the flurry of bullets striking metal, with its cacophony that which stimulated thrill and panic, Nira's composure did not wane; her expression was stern and unchanging as the sounds of death ravage only a few feet from her. With one arm held across her waist—a posture and gesture that which indicated acquiescence—Nira spoke to the man named Richard Walken, in alien tongue. Peculiar and uncommon phonetics flow out of Nira's mouth, but it was clear her tone was affirmative, like a soldier receiving its orders.
"ΔεδομÎνου ότι ο εκτελεστής της διαθήκης, θα σαÏ‚ Îχει ακουστεί."
(As the executor, I have heard your will.)
As Rick dispatches the last bandit, Nira steps outside of the room, and observes her surroundings astutely; the area was clear, but she could hear footsteps—she could sense that they were far off, some being beyond the ceiling. However, they were numerous. Surely, such numbers would inevitably rout this small crew, no matter how skilled or armed.
As long as they, this crew, continued to maneuver without any stratagem, they would fail....
Nira could see four others, besides herself, assumed to be allies. First, she must address the resources she had, the ability and manpower that was at their disposal. She deemed that relying on the commander, Rick, would be too risky and would not produce results.
Nira approaches Rick, and in a surprisingly commanding and stern tone, she demands,
"Walken, give me a report on the characteristics and abilities of each of the personnel here."
Rick gets a surprised look on his face, which quickly gives way to frustration.
"Hey, I'm the captain around here. You've got no right to order me around, given your current position on my ship. You want something? You either ask, or say please."
Nira curtly and dispassionately responds, "My apologies for betraying your wishes, but I also request a report of the, as well as the combat abilities, of each personnel, including yourself, Walken."
Clover goes to greet the woman, since he did not have a formal introduction with her when they were on the ship."Hey." He presents his hand out to her for a handshake.
Nira notices a young boy approach her; she recognizes his facial features, as well as his other characteristicsóit was the same boy that she had saw earlier, in Rick's room. Nira does not return the boy's friendly gesture; instead, she bows to him in a similar manner as she did earlier. Her bangs fall in front of her face as she does so, covering it. She pushes it aside and tucks it behind her left ear.
The boy withdraws his hand and asks, "Mind formally giving us your name? Since the rest of us did not properly meet you."
With her head still lowered, Nira replies, "My name is 'Nirakaleania ov Nephilim'." Nira gave no indication of saying any more.
"OK, formalities out of the way, I think we can handle ourselves better now. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get into contact with Mia, Bohr or Harris, so we're going to have to assume the worst. For now, Clover, can you go online see if you can bring up a map of the Atlantica from some archives? I don't care if you have to break some laws to do so. Keep searching it while we all keep moving up. Let's take care of the guy in charge of this operation first."
"Got it Rick. Let me go check one of the computers around here then before we get started." Clover pulls out his hackerpad and plugs in into a nearby computer. From the computer, he copies whatever data it held concerning the ship, and returns to the group to begin scanning the ship's database for some kind of schematics of the ship.
Nira stands upright, and directs her gaze at Rick. "Walken, if I may?"
Ricks looks towards Nira with an inquisitive gaze.
"Yes?"
Nira continues, "Do you have a plan for proceeding?"
Rick's gaze at Nira doesn't waver, still looking straight at her.
"Well, that depends on you now, doesn't it?"
I see. Then, I have a suggestion. The enemy forces outnumber us greatly, but are disorderly. They are many individuals, rather than a single army. I wish to assume command for the time being. ....I believe this would be in our best interests for the moment. Do you consent, Walken?"
Such action was incongruous for Nira. She realized it herself, as well. However, she felt strongly compelled to act, even in such insubordinate behavior. She was a person who merely fulfilled her duties and followed her orders. Whether or not they led to failure or demise was of no concern to her; it was not her responsibility. Yet, why is she so concerned...?
Rick appears a little...disappointed at Nira's request. Obviously, he's not going to give in command of his team under any circumstance.
"Honestly, I would rather you stay by my side and just give suggestions."
"Hey Rick. From what I got, I was able to decrypt some data on the ship's blueprints. But the computer I got this data from was too damaged, so most of it was corrupted. the only parts that wasn't corrupted was data on the stairs and elevators around the ship. I need to get to a better working computer if I am the full layout of the ship room by room."
"Can't you get something from the cyberspace network? Who said you had to search the ship itself to find a map?! Try hacking into the Federation database and get something from their archives. Unless..."
"Wait." Nira sharply cuts in. "Are you at least able to map out this floor?" Nira says to Clover.
"Some of it. Right now we are around the storage area. And Rick, I could do that, if we weren't in the most desolate place in space. There are hardly any comm satellites around here and even if I can hack into them, It would take hours just to get online and hack into the Federation database. Better to just get the data from the ship itself since we are already here."
"During my retreat to this position, I had noticed that the main methods of ascending or descending to other floors were either stairs or elevators. Clover, I ask that you try to establish an accurate map of the ship's schematics of this floor, and the area of approximately three floors above us. May I see the current portion of the map that you have?"
"Hmm, ok." Clover gives his hackerpad to Nira for her to use.
Nira receives it, and turns the screen to her. The map was obviously incomplete; however, such was expected from a large ship. On the screen, a representation of a overhead view of the floor was displayed. The shape of the floor made out to be a similar shape of the ship, tracing its hull, most likely. Nira could infer that the map was actually only half of the whole of the floor; as the shape of the floor seems to cut abruptly at the top of the map. Nira scanned two specific things: the stairs which decended from the floor above them, and the elevators. From her journey downward, Nira could only infer that some or all of the elevators traveled a limited amount of floors. Looking at the map, she could see that there were only four elevators which appeared to capable of accessing each floor. Then, there were sixteen elevators which only seemed to travel a limited amount of floors. Finally, there were actually only six stairways listed on the map.
Nira gives to gesture for Clover, signalling him to come closer. "Clover, could you come look at this map?"
Clover comes closer and inspects the map. "So, what do you need Nirake... Nireli...Nira"
"Our current position at this storage room, correct?" Nira points at a specific area on the map.
"Yes."
"Walken, I ask of you to see this as well." Nira added.
Rick walks over to Nira and Clover to check out the map she wanted to show.
"Yeah? What about it?"
"If we proceeed as we are, we will be overrun. It seems the elevators are situated erratically, and spread out evenly. The enemy's forces will proceed to this floor using all the elevators. Clover, is it possible for you to disable every single elevator on this floor?"
"Well... Unless i had access to the ship's main computer, I don't have full control of the ship. But all I can do is hack only one of them, and only if it was nearby our position."
"Hold on, this is assuming that there are going to be guards to overrun us. Didn't you hear the announcement ordering the bandits to head to Hangar 5? That was Harris talking, I'd recognize that voice anywhere."
"That is merely a quick impetus. Do not forget that this is the enemy's ship. Had we not been scattered, the enemy would have easily closed in on our location as soon as they had pinpointed it. For us to survive, it is necessary to impede the enemy's march."
Looking back on the map, Nira notices a section designated as a 'generator room'. It was located at the geographical southmost section of the map.
"Clover, are you able to remotely access that generator?" Nira points to the part of the map.
"I can... But why should I?"
"Disable it via destruction, overload, or in any other manner. If you could do it permanantly, that would be the most viable for our situation."
"I can just hack it. I just don't think destroying it would help us...yet."
"However, to what extent could you hack it? And can you ensure the fact that enemy technicians would not be able to restablish control? If you destroy it, the enemy would be unable to rely on any of the ships functions for this area. If you simply redirect power, the enemy could determine our location through the patterns of access. The method I suggest allows us to move guised by uncertainties."
"If the generators aren't well protected, I can hack it and make it seem like it wasn't even touched. And if they can track us if I hack them, I have a special program that makes sure otherwise." He shows Nira a white usb with an evil smiley face on it.
"My apologies, but you do not seem to grasp the scale of this method."
"Ok, to make it short, if their technicians suck at computer protections, the generators should be somewhat easy to hack. Also, I'll leave a virus program that will automatically destroy the generators if they try to reclaim them. And don't worry, I'll make sure they won't notice anything once I hacked them."
"However, I wish for them to notice. The other aspect of this method is to divert the enemy's attention to the generator room. As the enemy's information network of the area is dark, they would have to proceed carefully toward the generator room to restablish power."
Clover gives a sigh. "Fine.. Not how I like to do it, but if Rick has any other plan, I guess I can hack and disable them."
"Then, afterwards, we will head north, away from the south generator." Nira traces an upward path on the map. "From there, we may proceed to the upper floors through a stairway that is situated far from the generator. It is most likely that we will continue this process on later floors to ensure a safer advance. Before we proceed, it is imperative that you at least establish an accurate map of this floor and several floors above us, if possible, Clover. It is unlikely you'll be able to access any terminal or network with the power functions disabled on these floors."
"Well, let me find some terminal around here that has less corrupted data then, since these pirates don't seem to know how to maintain this ship properly."
"Then, we should continue proceeding north. It would be best if we are situated as far from the generator as possible, to allow us minimal contact with the forces that will be approaching the location upon execution. Walken, regarding the formation of the group, I suggest that the woman named 'Teal' act as the vanguard. I will support her. You and the man named 'Al' will act as the rear guard. Is this acceptable?"
Rick sighs for a while, giving up in trying to explain to Nira what the word 'captain' meant.
"Alright. I'll take your suggestion to heart. Teal, take point. Al, you and I will cover the rear. Let's keep moving at a steady pace, but do try to check other rooms if you can. If we find the others, we head for them and regroup first, then continue. Understand?"
"Understood."
"Got it." With that, Clover took back his hackerpad and started working on remotely hacking the generators.
