Chapter 9: A House In the Hills
"Is this the place?" Paul asked as we walked up to the house.
"Yeah it is," I said as I walked through the gate. A man was standing on the porch waiting for us. "Able Yong?"
"That depends are you a Mr. Rin Porter?" Able asked. "Because I am waiting for a Mr. Rin Porter to show up right now.?
"Yes I am," I answered. "And this is Jason and Paul. We are the ones looking for a place to rent."
"Well the lets get the grand tour started shall we?" Able said as he turned around and Unlocked the door.
As we walked into the house it opened into a Den/Living room area, to the right was a Kitchen/Dining room and to the left was a Stair well leading to the top floor the master suite and one of half bath. Up stairs two of the bedrooms and the other bathroom.
"This is a pretty nice house," Jason leaned over and said as we walked up the stairs and looked through the two bedrooms.
"Yeah it is," I agreed.
"Well what do you think?" Able asked, as we descended back down the stairs.
"Well what do you guys think?" I asked turning to Paul and Jason. "I have enough cash to handle the Deposit, right now, if you guys give the word."Jason looked over at Paul and Paul just nodded. I turned back to face Able. "Sure, Will you accept Cash as an Deposit?"
"Cash, or Check, just no credit." Able Joked.
"Well then its a deal," I said shaking his hand, and handing over the 250 bucks.
I'll have the Paperwork all drawn up by next weekend. Seeing as you guys are all over 18, and are about to graduate from high school I'll have it for you on Saturday."
So we now had a place to live, and two weeks left of school. And Next weekend it will all be finalized. The only problem I have now is how do I let the guys know about me and Alice. Paul was one thing, He would just probably stop talking to me for a few days, but then Jason was different, He is my best friend, and I lied to him. I am going to have to let this down on him Gently. The truth is, I was going to sack my Room at home, because Lived in the basement in an apartment like setting already, I had a fair collection of odds and ends of furniture, to put in the living room, and all they needed was there bedroom stuff.

Chapter 10: Graduation and This is Home
The day that we have awaited for half our lives finally has came, the day we enter the world. My whole family is here. The only thing that could have made this day better was if I was the Valedictorian, but sadly, my 3.4 GPA would not permit that.
As the For usual happened the Guest speaker, the top of the class giving his speech, and the limelight of walking across the stage shaking hands with the Dean and receiving your diploma. My last name started with a P so I was towards the back half of the class. I wished my name started with 5 A's so I would have been first so I could have just got it over with. As the Row ahead of us, was half way through the proceedings, We stood up and walked up towards the stage.
One more closer one more, God this is Nerve racking. Please don't let me make a complete ass out of myself. Then I heard it. "Rin Porter." They had called my name, I climbed the steps up to the as I walked half way across the stage, I glanced out at the crowd. My Entire Graduating class was that of 239 students and the on looking family and friends of the student must have been that over over 1500 people. But what made my hear sip a beat was the applause that I received, as I shook the Deans Hand and was temporarily blinded by the camera man.
I now had my degree, and as I passed by Alice I gave her a wink, though I would have like to stop grab her and kiss her, that was the least I could do. The rest of the preceding was just a blur, it went by so fast. The whole time before my name was called it seemed to move at half speed, and then after I crossed the stage it was all too quick.
"Congratulations!" My sister June said as she tackled me.
"Nice to see you too kid," I said patting her on the head.
"Congratulations," My father said handing me a Cigar. "It's a Family Tradition. To give a Cigar to your Son the day they graduate from high school. And as my dad did I spared no expense in this. It's no Cuban but it's damn near close."
I looked at the seal and it said that it was from Ecuador. "Thanks dad," I said putting it in my shirt pocket. "I'll light it up latter. You want to see the house?"
"Sure honey," My mother said. Giving me a hug.
Seeing as my family, came here in a car it was much simpler to drive there than to walk, and I told Paul and Jason to meet me there with there families so we could actually find out what we were going to do. Who was going to get what, and the such. As we drove up the road, my mother constantly said how nice of a neighborhood this was, and when we finally go to the house, we all go out. "We already decided on who got what rooms, and the such." I said as I opened the front door when two more cars pulled up into the drive. "Theres Jason and Paul." Jason's Family was just as he said they were and Paul's Family was something completely different from what I thought they would have been like. "Just in time, I was about to start the Grand tour without you guys."
"Ha Ha funny," Jason said sarcastically. "Thats Rin," He said turning to his dad. "He's the one who masterminded this whole thing."
"Hey!" I yelled. "You went along with it. Without complaint if I might add." I turned and opened the door. All he way and stepped inside. "Well, what are you waiting for come on in."
Me, Jason, and Paul, lead our families through the house, showing the highlights, and said who got what room.
After the tour was over, we headed to The Diner, because our families wanted to now what was so great about the place.

Chapter 11: Moving In
It has been a week since we graduated, from school, the day we move into our new home. Even with my car, which I was glad to have back, there was not enough room in the van for everything so with a rented truck we moved my stuff in, intact there was 2 trailers there as we pulled up. "Looks like Jason and Paul rented some Trailers as well," I said getting out of my car lugging in a box full of DVD's and a DVD Player. "Come on, Lets get this stuff in here." I walked through the open door, and sat the box down in the den. "HEY JASON, PAUL! WE'RE HERE!"
Jason was the first one to emerge down the stairs, and Paul soon followed. "Tell me again why you get the master," Jason said as he walked over.
"I paid the deposit, thus I get first Dibs," I answered. "Besides the window faces the east, and I wake up with the sun. Not to mention I'm furnishing the den, with couches and a TV. Come on, lets get this stuff in here, It's going to take all of us because Dads, Out of Action with a broken Arm."
The couch was easier to move with the three of us then I though. So was the rest of the furniture. After everything was put in its place, we stopped for a bit to get some lunch. The Cable guy wasn't going to be there till after 2 in the first place.
"Any one want some pizza?" I asked, after I finished hooking up everything to the TV, and standing up checking my watch. "The Cable Guy isn't supposed to be here for another 2 hours."
"Sure," Jason said. "I'm getting a little hungry."
"Well come on, and well go get a couple of pizzas," I said grabbing my keys.
"Man you have a nice car," Jason said as he hopped in the passenger side. "I never would have thought, you drove a Suburban."
"Yeah," I began. "Well, It's a nice ride thats why I like it, after all I'm not a street racer so I don't need a car like that."
"Well what ever you say, this is a nice car." Jason Insisted.
"Buckle up," I said turning the ignition letting the V8 Roar up putting on my own seat belt. I then dropped the visor, and pulled a CD out, and popped it in the CD Player. Instantly, Modest Mouse started playing. As I backed out of the drive way.
"What kind of pizza?" I asked. "Giovanni's, or Donatos?"
"Giovanni's," Jason answered. "What else is there, besides that, thats any good?"
"Right," I said as I rounded the corner. And down the road. Giovanni's is a local pizza place, some of the best pizza you would ever have if you had any of it. It wasn't that far from the house, so it only took a few minutes,
"Welcome to Giovanni's," A waitress said as we walked in the door. "Can I help you today? Oh Hey Rin."
"Hello April," I said recognizing her. "Need to place an order to go."
"Sure What can I get you?" April said as she pulled out her notepad.
"A Large Supreme, Hand Tossed, A Large Pepperoni, Hand tossed, and a Large Thin Crust Hawaiian." I sited off. "Got a lot of people to feed."
"I'll say," April joked. "Normally when you two and Paul come in here its just the Hawaiian."
"Well what can I say," I said. "Our families like to eat."
"Take a seat," April said. "It'll be about 20 minutes."
Me and Jason headed over to a Bench, to sit down. "Well We finally did it," I said sitting down onto the bench. "We are now out in the world all on our own."
"Yeah," Jason said sitting down next to me. "It's kinda weird. We spend the first 18 years of our lives wanting to just get away, but when you we do, its nothing really special."
"Tell me about it," I agreed. "But to our parents its, like we are being sent away to jail or something."
"Hey guys here's you pizzas," Aprils said as she broth the boxes over to the counter. "It's 23.79."
"Here," I said handing over 30 bucks. "Keep the change."
"Thanks you guys," April said as I grabbed the pizzas. "Come back soon."
"Will do," Jason said. "As long as your still working here, at least I'll come."
"You really like her don't you?" I asked after we walked out the door. "Come on Spill it."
"You got me," Jason admitted. "I like her."
"So why don;t you ask her out?" I asked. "I mean shes what 20-21? Shes not that older than you are, and besides I think she might like you too."
"Drop it alright?" Jason snapped as we got into the car.
When we got back, we brought the food in and everyone found some where to sit with a nice pile of pizza on there plates. And after we finished the pizzas off, the cable guy finally arrived.
"Bout time you showed up," I joked when I answered the door.
"Is this the residence of a Mr. Rin Porter?" The cable guy asked.
"Your looking at him," I answered. "Come on in and give the Omnipotent Boob Tube life."
"You got a pretty nice shopping list here," The Cable guy said looking at the work order. "Full HD Service Package, DVR Receivers for 4 rooms, and High Speed Internet. And theres a 127.97 COD as well."
"I have it right here," I said handing over a check."Now can we get this all hooked up?"
"Sure thing," The cable guy said as he took the check and placed it in the clip board walking back out to his truck getting the Receivers and Modem, among other tools.
"Cable Guys here," I said as I walked back into the house. With the cable guy following behind me.
"Nice Plasma TV," He said as he walked over to the TV. "What is that, a 42"?"
"Yeah," I confirmed. "Thats my little Toy there."
"Now I see why you went with a full HD Service plan," He mused. "It'll take me about an hour to get everything set up."
"Just get it done right and I don't care how long it takes," I told him as I sat down on the couch. He set to his work and remained quiet, while he hooked everything up, It was like watching a Surgeon, so meticulous in process of getting everything put together. About an hour latter everything was up and running, the Internet, was up, and there was 500 TV Channels at our disposal.
"If you have any problems, call this number," the cable guy said as he handed over a business card. "And happy viewing."

Chapter 12: Truth
It's been about a week since we moved in, Paul has shown to be the best cook among us so he's the one who cooks the most, Jason, is still trying to pluck up the courage to ask April out, and me, I'm trying to pluck up the courage to tell them the truth about me and Alice. Well if I'm ready or not, its coming out one way or another by the end of the day. "It's now or never," I muttered to myself as the doorbell rang.
"I'll get it, Jason said getting up off of the couch, to get the door. Who was on the other side of that door was someone he nor Paul would ever expect. "Ms.-Ms. Alice? What are you doing here?" Jason seemed flabbergasted at the surprise visitor. Paul was in the same boat, but I was the one who knew she was coming.
"Jason," Alice said. "I'm not your teacher an more call me Alice."
"Alice," I said walking over to the door. "Please come in." I turned to Jason. "I have some explaining to do."
"What the hell is going on here?" Jason demanded as we all sat in the living room. The TV had just been turned off.
I looked to Alice, and then back at Jason and Paul. "Jason, I lied to you, that day. I was with Alice the whole day." She put her hand on mine and I grasped it. "We have been having our relationship in secret, for 8 months now."
"I can't believe you man," Jason said, looking right at me. "I never thought you'd keep something this big from me, I mean it. You even lied to me about it. I understand that. You wanted to protect Alice, while you were a student there, I can understand, but then still this is big." He, looked like he wanted to say more but for some reason he seemed to not be able to come up with any words to describe what he was thinking.
"I just can't believe," Paul began. "That you'd be able to keep something like this secret for so long. I know for sure as hell that I couldn't."
"I hope you boys do not think any less of me," Alice said. It was the first thing she had said since we sat down. Which made me look over at her.
"Alice..." Words escaped me.
"You shouldn't worry about that," Jason assured her. "If anything I am even more impressed with you, because in all the 8 months you said this went on, I had no idea that anything was going on between you two." HE looked back at me, and then went on. "I have a knack for telling when someone is... How should I put this... Having a relationship with someone else."
"So," I slowly began. "Your not mad?"
"Oh I'm mad alright," Jason said looking me in the eyes. "Mad that you lied to me, but then thats it. I wish you both nothing but good fortune in your relationship."
"And the Same from me," Paul agreed.
It was almost like taking your girlfriend home to meet your parent's the only difference being it's your two best friends, that are almost like your brothers. "Thanks guys," I said. "You have no idea how much of a relief this is. I almost had to force myself to do this, because I knew it would come out one way or another, and I thought it would be better to let it come out willingly than have you find out the other way."
