Summer Writing Contest 2012!

I'm still debating in my head if I even want to enter, but some big changes are going on IRL currently. I might have the time...We'll see.

Come come my literate comrade. Though it may not be as much of a crucible as yours my life is picking up as well. I know you can put some time aside for a solid show, and even if you don't I'd still like to read something of yours that isn't about someone else's work.

Untrue, I merely chose to opt out of judging because I did not want a majority of the winter judges to vote in this one. That was because it wouldn't encourage diversity in the collective judge mindset...but you did it anyway.

Honestly, though? It can't happen any other way, and we're lucky to have Waar on board.

In regards to the decision-making, the opinion poll has always been a prestigious award and the winner has never received anything aside from fame and recognition. It can be done, but it won't result in winning any prizes, at least for this contest (assuming the judges deem that the case). Besides, it's imperative that the public have little to no say in a winner because of the caliber of the prizes. Cinia "Rise-chan" Pacifica has done a tremendous job in gathering awards for this event.

So, I'm still proud of you, Rise (I'm still going to call you 'Rise') for taking the initiative to see your ideas into fruition and I'm pleased to see you've garnered respectable awards to attract more than the average Writing and Fanfiction regular.

Waar seemed rather quite excited. Which was a pleasant sight. His support had somehow lent me confidence to wing this event out. And I really liked his suggestions, too.

Thanks. I felt that you wouldn't like how I got the Title award for this one, but I guess I really needed it to gain the attention of more and more users so that they'd join. After I had posted the contest, some people said that they were joining just for that title. So I suppose it's working out the way I had hoped it to for now.

EDIT: I actually prefer your other avatar, the red one that you used throughout the previous year. It's far more classy.

While you are to keep your posts relevant to the topic here, you may post questions here, too. If you feel that you will feel humiliated or overwhelmed by the public presence, then - as they themselves said - please feel free to PM the other judges, and me, of course.

Also, please try to leave some comments on the entries of the participants. It doesn't matter whether you're a fellow writer, a participant yourself, or someone who barely writes and just reads; writers enjoys comments and feedbacks from almost anyone.

How do I submit my Entry?

Make a new thread for your entry in the Writing and Fanfiction Section. Then, copy the link of your entry and post it in this thread.

You MUST post the link of your entry in this thread or else, we will NOT count it.

--Can I submit Multiple Entries?

For every users' entries, there will be a limit of ONE (1). It is not yet known how many will be participating. However, each judge has to read every entry. In order to avoid potential eye strain, please limit your entries to one piece please.

--Does it absolutely have to be under 1500 words?

Yes. If people could make do with 1000 words in this contest, previous contest, then why not 1500 words?

--Can I change or edit my entry?

Sure, but please announce and let us judges know. You can change or edit your entry up until the deadline - 00:00 of the 15th of July, 2012 (EST, GMT-5).

--Can I take ideas, or have a parody from an already-existing work?

Sure you can. However, you need to explain it to us that you did. Or else we may suspect plagiarism or the likes. Just leave a footnote regarding it (at the bottom) of the post that contains the story of your entry in it's thread.

--Do I have to include adult/sexual contents in my entry?

This is purely your choice. We don't mind if sexual contents are not present. We don't encourage or discourage it.

Yeah, that's why him and Gambler are the mods I respect the most. Speaking of which, I haven't heard of Gambler as of late. Hope he's keeping a nice eye on us.

Hm, I might use it, but I've also been thinking of adopting another one by the same artist, which might fit the aura for the skeleton of a concept I have in my mind.

Oh, very well. Since you request so earnestly. Right after I don my contest avatar and read the rest of your submission, I'll spend the next week or so in plot development...That due date sure is far off.

Have I not explained it already? I'm not willing to copy the last contest any further, I want distinctions; differences between this and that. Hell, I feel that Xenon hates me for this contest, it could get worse at this rate.

Ahem. Anyway, what good is there from a poll? Do you wish for the fun, fame, or is it that you wish to see some sort of a popularity contest? Because I believe there are users who just votes whoever that has higher votes. There won't any special prizes other than some more respect and attention, you know?

Let us keep the differences between the two contests. I'm sure that the next contest in winter will have the polls.

Uh well, if you say so, hahaha. I guess it just seems to me that having a poll would be more tense.... and fun, you know. Not that I'm desperate to have one anyway. If there isn't going to be one, I'm not gonna oppose you.

But you haven't answer my second question: can I submit one story, then change it to another completely different one?

Yes you can. You'll have to edit the post in which you posted your first entry and then post in this thread about it and will have to leave an explanation as a footnote in the post containing the entry.

A small thing I noticed, Rise/Cinia: my entry is not present on the list. Not really a problem if it was simply overlooked, but if I have broken any rules I am oblivious to the infraction then I'd like to remedy them in the next coming proofreading.
