Cursed coin! Well, at least Rachel is down for the count... (I think. Seriously though, that woman has got some crazy critical hp decision making skills.)

You say nothing and simply look at Claire as she drags you into the submarine. She hits the emergency switch and the door closes shut, separating you from the cold water. Claire continues to drag you until you reach the escape pods. She sits you up against the wall near the pods before she hits the main conduit. A light flicker's on and you hear a voice.
"State operational devices!" Claire yells at the conduit as you hear the water outside.
"Activate escape pods. Destination: Surface!" Claire says as she tries to drag your body next to one of the escape pods.
"No..." Claire says as the pod opens. A red light starts to flicker on the conduit.
"That's it then," Claise says with a sigh. "After everything you've done for me, I'm not leaving you in your last moments."
You look at Claire and:
A. Muster the strength to talk and convince Claire to go
B. Say nothing and enjoy your last few moments together
C. Muster the strength to push her inside the pod
Current HP: 0
Equipment: 2 Jellyfish(With Claire), Lighter(With Claire)
EMERGENCY SYSTEMS ON. PLEASE IN PUT COMMAND.

OXYGEN TANKS OPERATIONAL. LIGHTS OPERATIONAL. ESCAPE POD OPERATIONAL.
"Activate escape pods. Destination: Surface!" Claire says as she tries to drag your body next to one of the escape pods.
ESCAPE POD ACTIVATED. ONE FUNCTIONING ESCAPE POD READY.
"No..." Claire says as the pod opens. A red light starts to flicker on the conduit.
DETECTING COMPROMISE IN HULL. HULL INTEGRITY WILL FAIL IN ONE MINUTE.
"That's it then," Claise says with a sigh. "After everything you've done for me, I'm not leaving you in your last moments."
You look at Claire and:
A. Muster the strength to talk and convince Claire to go
B. Say nothing and enjoy your last few moments together
C. Muster the strength to push her inside the pod

A, there really is no option left. We have too many wounds to last the trip, likely. Give it a go.

"Y-you have to go without me..." you tell Claire.
She looks at you, surprised that you are still able to talk. "I-I can't!" she says. There has to be another way! Maybe I can find something to pry one of the other escape pods open..."
"E-even if you do, they're still not functioning. You and I know that this is the last working one," you tell Claire. "Please, you have to get in. You have so much left of your life. The world would be a sad place if they lost such a young genius."
"B-but what about you?" Claire asks. "The world would be a sad place if they lost such a good person. Th-they need to hear your story. How you saved me."
"Th-they'll hear it through you," you say. "Please, Claire. Don't make me break my promise. Remember what I said?"
"Th-that you're not letting me die here," she answers.
"Exactly. So please, get in the pod," you tell Claire.
She hesitates for a moment before she wraps her arms around you. She kisses you on the cheek and stands up, hitting the emergency eject on the main conduit. "Thank you," she says, "for everything." A countdown starts and Claire jumps into the pod. It closes just as you hear the walls of the submarine begin to strain from the water pressure. Claire gives you one last wave before the pods ejects itself downwards and disappears.
You sit against the wall, everything around you going silent as you mull in your thoughts. You look down at the water where Claire's escape pod ejected from and it puts a smile on your face. You were nothing more than a simple maintenance crew member that got caught between a rock and a hard place. As bolts fly out of their sockets and water starts to fill the sub, you feel content with your actions. You wish there was another way this could have played out, but you are happy nonetheless that you maid a difference in one person's life. You take a deep breath and exhale as the submarine gives in to the pressure, crushing you in both steel and water.
I had planned for there to be two escape pods, but a few questionable decisions led to a pretty melancholy ending. Not the best ending since your goal is to keep YOU alive, but it wasn't the worst either. Here's the break down that decided your fate in the last few moments.
Good Ending: You and Claire both live(could have been accomplished if you finished off Rachel while she was dazed by the Biogel)
Neutral Endind A: Claire lives, you don't(this is the one you got!)
Neutral Ending B: Only one of you lives, but you have the option to choose who(could have been accomplished by waiting instead of rushing at Rachel when she was beating Claire)
Bad Ending: You and Claire die(could ha have been accomplished with a few more bad decisions)
Anyway, that concludes this tale! Now I take a good long break. Make no mistakes however, there will be another Tale of Survival.

Honestly, I think this worked out pretty well. It would have been nice to be alive, but as I realized making the last couple of decisions, it actually matters very little what we decided to do. With Rachel dazed and a stab wound in our foot, going after her when she had a gun and a knife could have led to a limp and a bullet in our head, then she'd have killed Claire. Running to Claire and ignoring Rachel was also a grim decision. At the end of the day, you, the author, is the one who holds the most power and controls the environment through your literary story-telling.
Although we make multiple choice decisions, we have very little power as they lead to the ideas on what to write about regardless. For instance, Rachel surviving the pressure by being inside the brood monster. Not scientifically viable. Flesh wouldn't resist intense pressure for what's inside, it'd actually conform to pressure because it's a malleable material, but you wrote it out that way and we wound up with a wounded foot because of it, which pretty much dictated the fall of our character. If we had been without that surprise wound, or given a chance to react to her emerging from the beast, who knows what would have happened without our speed taken from us? Which, when unarmed, is your highest reliable ability.
At the end of the day, though, we saved the world and someone's life, and that's a pretty good feat to accomplish, even if this is entitled the Survival CYOA.

Why thank you, good sir. I would like to thank you back for sticking with me to the end. Haha, I know my writing's not the best, but I do what I can to entertain you guys. Please look forwards for when the next tale starts most likely in a month or two. Hopefully the moderators won't have a complaint on me necrobumping this thread when that time comes, haha.

I'm quite glad that I joined in this time. It's too bad our protagonist didn't make it to the end, but I'm a fan of tragic/bittersweet endings anyways, so it works for me. If this were a visual novel, I would've been resetting for ages probably ahaha. Nonetheless, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire ride!
I'll definitely be around for when you start up your next survival series! Also, you can always just make another thread if you wanted to create another survival cyoa.
