Yeah we kinda started making assumptions. You sure you're alright with 20,000 words as a max, though, Noel? Props if you are, but that's some heavy artillery.
Well, I'm assuming most people won't even reach 15,000 let alone 20,000...
But if it does get to 20,000 words, that just means that you read and read and if it sucks, you stop at say... 3000 words or something... and if it does end up being really good... Then that just means you read something really good and it was worth all 20,000 right?
[font=Verdana][color=green]Hmm...I don't like that idea at all. It needs to have a set limit; and by set I don't mean 20k. It needs to be short enough for people to think "Only - let's say 1000 - 1000 words? Sweet, I can do that in a couple of nights" but also long for people to think "1000 words? That should give me more than enough words to make it detailed"
Before you ask, yes, I am plugging 1000 words here. You need to be fair to the other judges as well; you might be okay with reading thousands of words, but many others here won't.
Actually, I don't think you can even make a post with 20,000 words in it. That is almost the size of a novel. After 25,000, you literally are in Novel territory.
Just trying to offer some perspective here. If you are fine with that, then go for it.
25,000 words is hardly a novel. It's about 3-4 chapters of a novel, but hardly a novel. But if one has time to write such a piece, I would be happy to read it.
And I don't really want to impose a limit. I want this to be creative and such. Write without limits!
Guess I did put one for poetry... But when a poem gets really long... It kind of ends up as like.... prose.
And as I said about judging, this contest will be peer judged. Those who read, I hope can give a score, an honest score.
Well I think we have enough time for a really large entry to be submitted so it doesn't matter about how long the limit is, our Noel just wanted to say that it doesn't even have any limits, or at least no one may make it as big as that. Its gonna be really hard, oh and, I think everyone read the whole story of an entry 'cause everyone loves romance here.
I think I'll enter and make it as big as possible since the word limit is 20,000 long, I won't enter the poem division though but yes everyone, expect an even more romantic and vanilla filled story than "The Mistress of Snow" this time!
ill give this one a shot, i couldn't keep my other one under 1,000 words i like the new limit. infact! i know a story i can modify that i already have! hurray hurray.
yay - sounds great
the word limit looks like its a tad overkill, but Im guessing we dont have to even be near it.
Not particularly sure about the peer judging though...but maybe thats just me...
Nah, I take it that didn't work out. Bit too close together, I guess. And it is pretty early to use up the now single-post allowance. Might be an idea to have it running for a little while with the forum busy from this contest, and then try to get one up a week before it ends for a big, final push.
[font=Verdana][color=green]^Why don't you ask Gambler to either edit it for you, or say to him you're editing it and ask him if he wouldn't mind stickying it again? He's a top lad, he won't mind.
