This isn't an Onee-san, this is a MILF!
Taking in, looking after and making a widowed milf forget about her late husband and finally getting another chance to be happy, happy ending vanilla!!!
(This might tie Retirement Show and Incompetent for my favorite Idaten Funisuke chapter!)
Also, when he was asking about her late husband and she said "...he was much rougher than you are." I was like ooohhh man, homie better TEAR THAT UP!!!!!
-@bvoss5, I mean this demanded a sequel regardless lol. And they did live together for awhile and their relationship was genuine. I think she just needed a little time to get her priorities taken care of and had the intention all along to make it official with the MC.
Not going to lie, I feel like this "ending" demands a sequel, because while they did meet up again after she left, it's basically the equivalent of a braindead harem MC confessing right at the very end of the show, with any subsequent events merely left implied.
Idaten Funisuke's stories are wonderful for showing legitimately real human relationships in all the gritty, scuffed, ugly, and beautiful reality. This story was tinged with the miasma of grief, but it was delightful all the same. Grief is a hell of a thing.
It looks like living with another man showed Sumi-san that she was the problem in her relationships. She does everything a man could want from a wife by keeping the home clean, cooking food food, and having plenty of sex. However, she doesn't communicate her problems and spent years suffering through a problem her husband may not have known even existed. She made the exact same mistakes in her new relationship by refusing to talk about her problems until she realized how much pain she was causing him. The food news is that she seems to have made steps forward to improve herself as seen by living by herself and cutting her hair. Only a sequel will show if those improvements stick.
