For now, I'll only upload the games to MegaUpload - feel free to complain and I'll do what I can to provide you with alternative sources.

I will try to cover the early PC-98 games as well as other fan works like Super Marisa Land here, which I didn't have the chance to play myself yet, but I want to have a closer look at the game and it's files myself before I'm uploading anything, so be patient.

Embodiment of Scarlet Devil [Touhou 06]



EoSD is a vertical bullet hell shooter and the first game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS.

Perfect Cherry Blossom [Touhou 07]



PCB is a vertical bullet hell shooter and the second game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS, playing not too long after the events of EoSD when winter has arrived and stayed for longer than it should.

Immaterial and Missing Power [Touhou 07.5]



Immaterial and Missing Power is a two dimensional fighting game with a heavy slant towards projectiles, and the fourth game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS. IaMP plays chronologically between the events of PCB and IN but got released after IN, hence labeled 7.5.

Imperishable Night [Touhou 08]



IN is a vertical bullet hell shooter and the third game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS. As the PCB incident was solved by our heroines, and calmness found it's way back to Gensokyo, youkai sense a sudden disturbance in the presence of the moon as the Harvest Moon Festival draws near.

Phantasmagoria of Flower View [Touhou 09]



PoFV is a competitive vertical bullet hell shooter and the fifth game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS. Unlike the other vertical shooter games, you actively fight against other characters in a split-screen manner similar to that of versus puzzle games.

StB, or Touhou Bunkachou, is a vertical bullet hell photography game, and the sixth game to be released for the Windows OS.

MoF, or Touhou Fuujinroku, is a vertical bullet hell shooter and the seventh game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS. MoF comes with quite a few changes in gameplay - not only reached ZUN a new milestone regarding graphics and animation, but MoF, contrary to the older games, also no longer features a scoring system depending on grazing as well as a completely overhauled weapon system.

Scarlet Weather Rhapsody [Touhou 10.5]



SWR, or Touhou Hisouten, is the eight game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS and plays about a year after the events of Mountain of Faith and is, like it's predecessor Immaterial and Missing Power, a fighting game created by the collaboration between ZUN and the doujinshi game developer circle Tasogare Frontier.

Subterranean Animism [Touhou 11]



SA, or Touhou Chireiden, is the ninth game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS. SA is a vertical bullet hell shooter with gameplay very similar to that of Mountain of Faith. However, new changes to the weapon, bomb as well as scoring system give this game, in my opinion, a nice difficulty touch of it's own.

Undefined Fantastic Object [Touhou 12]



There is no english translation available for this game.

UFO, or Touhou Seirensen, is the tenth game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS. UFO is a vertical bullet hell shooter with gameplay very similar to that of Mountain of Faith and Subterranean Animism. But, with more playable characters, new weapon systems as well as the reintroduction of the old-school bomb systems from the earlier games before MoF, as well as the new colour UFO system this game packs quite a change in gameplay.

Hisoutensoku [Touhou 12.3]



There is no english translation available for this game.

Soku - or sometimes referred to as SWRS -, or Touhou Hisoutensoku, is the eleventh game of the Touhou series to be released for the Windows OS and is considered an expansion to Scarlet Weather Rhapsody. Like it's predecessors IaMP and SWR, it is a fighting game spin-off collaboration between ZUN and Tasogare Frontier.

If you want to link Soku to your SWR installation for reasons no one has figured out yet (It doesn't seem to affect profiles or unlockables of Soku.), direct the [th105path] section inside configex123.ini to your SWR installation. Welcome to the nostalgia.

This section will cover the official PC-98 releases of the Touhou project released under the publisher Amusement Makers, a studen group of the Tokyo Denki University Department of Science and Engineering, which ZUN, the creatore of the Touhou project, was part of during the development of his first five Touhou games.

With the exception of HRtP, none of these games have an english translation available.

All of these games can only be run through emulation software. My personal PC-98 emulator of choice as well as a bundle upload of all the five games and the emulator together can be found at the bottom of this post.

Notes on running those games under Wine:

1.1.24: The emulator runs smoothly and requires no additional steps compared to a Windows platform.

HRtP, or Touhou Rei'iden, is the first game of the Touhou series, released for the japanese PC-98 in 1996. The game shares some basic similarities with Arkanoid, but it is mostly its own unique game.

SoEW, or Touhou Fumaroku, is the second game of the Touhou series and was released for the japanese PC-98 in 1997. It is also the first game of the series to be of the vertical bullet hell shooter genre.

Things regarding Anex86, the emulation software included in this upload:

Anex86 comes with fairly simple usage - direct one of the HDD tabs to the disk image file of the game you want to play and hit Start. Savegames, settings and so on will be written directly into the .hdi game file.

Should you have gibberish, unrecognizable text in-game, go into Config, open the Font tab and direct the program to the anex86.bmp which is included in it's folder.

What exactly makes these games so big in size? I mean, from some videos I watched it looked fairly simple. Nonetheless i'm downloading em.

Music, mostly. In the case of EoSD, a fresh install is about 321MB in size, 309MB of it being BGM files. I could have seperated the games from the music and put it up as seperate downloads, but... no. If you're playing Touhou, then you're playing Touhou, and that includes dying to bosses because you're so distracted from the awesome theme which just started playing. A great portion of Touhou's fame comes from the music, and who am I to leave that out only to reduce the game's size.

Sorry for the delay, I found myself forgetting about my uploads for hours because I was so busy playing the game when I only wanted to do some quick Wine testing - this one's definitely my current favourite. Not only because it features incredibly difficult bosses like Reimu and Reisen, which are the kings (Or queens, I should say.) of laming your ass out, but you also get to play the game as Alice, which means love.



Undefined Fantastic Object [Touhou 12] is scheduled to be released on the upcoming Comiket, I will try to get my hands on it ASAP, but an english translation patch will probably take a bit longer. If with "version" you mean "game", that is. The versions included in my uploads are pretty much the final versions of every game, since ZUN isn't working on them anymore as far as I can tell. Which is both a shame and kind of nice at the same time. Some games still feature bugs, like the Rebellious Merlin of PCB or the wasteful Master Spark of EoSD - but things like that also played a role on developing the characters' individual personalities. For example, Merlin Prismriver is, due to the bug, often portrayed with a rather rebellious and bullheaded attitude, and the Master Spark bug further contributed to the impression of Marisa Kirisame having a rather wasteful and irresponsible character.

Next up for uploading will be Phantasmagoria of Flower View, or Touhou 09. Testing netplay performance and enhanced netplay client for both Windows and Linux first.

On a quick sidenote, is it annoying for people to read text which features so many links in it?

Although all the game and translation patches are available at TouhouWiki, I added seperate translation and patch downloads to the respective DDL sections, for the sake of completion.

Compression and password protection is in effect for those downloads as well.

Completely understandable. Although the fourth is already pretty annoying, the fifth stage, even on lower difficulty, simply runs up to you and pops your danmaku virginity in preperation to receive ten rapes per second once you face Sakuya. She can be such a bitch.

Misdirection kills me.
The only thing I found hard about Stage 4 was Patchouli's Red Lasers; I usually can't find a space away from the red balls and red lasers. Her spellcards aren't too particularly hard for me (Well maybe #31 Mercury Poison)

Sorry for the delayed upload. I found myself quite... enjoying the Netplay after I gave it some testing.

Next on the list will be Shoot the Bullet, or Touhou 9.5.



Patchouli herself didn't give me that much of a headache either, but I died many many times on normal waves of the stage before I memorized them enough.

Regarding Patchouli and her bullets: They're a bit tricky at first, but only until you figured out their actual hitboxes. The hitboxes of the fire- and normal balls are smaller than they look onscreen, similar as to how your hitbox is much smaller than your character sprite. The only way to get a feeling for them is through trial and error, though. Also, the hitbox of her laser disappears as soon as they stop their horizontal movement, which allows you to move through them without being hit - you don't need to wait until they completely disappeared (If that'd be of help I could record a replay of demonstration for you.). They're also much easier to dodge with Marisa than with Reimu, due to the increased speed - at least in my opinion - that's why I'm personally preferring fast-moving characters like her or Youmu in those games, but that's simply a thing of personal preference.

Also, if you didn't notice that yet, Patchouli's choice of spellcards depends on what character you're playing. When I used to play the game on normal difficulty, I found Reimu-A's spellcards much easier to dodge than the others at first.

I have TH01 - TH05. I could help out with uploading them, unless you plan to do so.

I am planning on going through the PC-98 games once I'm finished with uploading the current, official, Windows games.

I could include your upload temporarily for accessibility as long as I'm still busy with the Windows games, but seeing as I am reviewing the performance and write brief descriptions on how the games are uploaded as well as various troubleshooting, it's pretty much unecessary since I will go over those games as well once I'm there. Also, all five games combined come to around 15MB compressed - it's not a big deal and I could just do it myself, but I'd rather have them uploaded properly into the list to my standards once I'm through the Windows games, so I have to go through the trouble anyway. Thanks for the offer, though.



Quality uploads take time. Next up is StB, afterwards I will get to MoF, and then I'll do SWR.

Seeing as most of my current Touhou playing is focused on IaMP, and I hear terrible things about SWR from the IaMP community, I haven't touched that game yet. I want to get more information on the actual gameplay, review the game under Linux environment, and have a look at the files and the best way to upload them before I'm updating the list with it, so give me a few more days.
