Anime Noob?!

FIRST:
Yes I Know That Everyone start off as one.
My Problem is this Generation of of Noobs!

Reason for Topic:
-I got dissed by one today. He of all people had the Nerve to call me the noob...WTF!! I would have just Ignored him like i do most people, but he stuck his nose in my business in the first place, so i felt the need to put him back in his place.

Topic:
-This Generation of Anime Noobs are the worst! the reason i say this is because they never outgrow the mainstream Crap that the TV networks has to offer them...

-They tend to put on this Annoying front that they know more about an Anime than they really do...
-They try to force others to like there Mainstream crap!
-If you don't agree to what they like than you should kill yourself.

Overall I just hate dealing with them. I can't bring up the word "Anime" in public without some "headband Wearing Narutard" butting into my conversation. It was Annoying to see that 30% of my schools population ran out to get a DeathNote from Hot Topic the day after the Anime came to America. Its Also Bothersome to Hear Every New found Anime Fan Trying to speak Japanese, Eating Pocky, And Trying to Do Haruhi's Dance every time they hear the Opening Music for the show... They are so Unintelligent that if you even bother to call them a Weeaboo they think its a compliment!


My Question:
Have you had the chance to run into the New Generations Anime Noob yet?
if so, Than how did you handle it? I would like to hear your thoughts/stories on this situation!

If i'd say something about Anime here, most people would be like "WTF you sick asshole" or sumthing like that, since they don't watch it at all and think it's like children's stuff.

But when looking from our country's scale, for example in Cons, there are lot of Naruto peeps (and some Bleach as well, but it's not so popular here yet like Naruto). But i never get myself into any anime related conversations except with my few friends and all of them are in army atm except one who i am studying the same stuff with.

Thou on (popular) cons here you can see thousands people (normal cons 100-1000 and our biggest Animecon this year got over 10,000 visitors (including me)), anime's popularity here is still pretty small D=

But yeah; it's pretty annoying for those popular series to become popular in anime culture (or sumthing like that;).

Yeah I met some people like that. The only animes they know were Naruto, Bleach, FMA... Saying all these crap that anime is gay..I just ignored them and said...STFU I don't care...They only know the ones that run on cartoon Network..WOW..

the thing i do for this kind of problem is give them some episode of new anime then after a while he will discuss it too me and....other noobs will come and some of them become semi-noobs and some will be otaku....(maybe not work for you)

if you want the easy way to handle them....just watch new anime(or other anime you know but they don't) at noobs area

well cartoon is alot similar to anime in terms of on the surface and they did originate from cartoons so cant blame them entirely.

Instead of pissing at them it's better to just say "oh, cool, then have you seen *unlimited list of good anime*?" and laugh at them when they make a fool out of themselves.

it's easy to combat this problem if you don't mind doing some missionary work to spread the word o' the good anime to the ignorant masses. Do not hate them for they know not what they do.

Doesn't sound any different from the previous generation, just the names of the low-entry anime are different. Don't think just because you're experienced now, that the noobs are suddenly a lot worse. They were just as bad as when you were a noob.

@Hoshi: you're going to receive a whole variety of responses that may or may not deal with your type of situation. Like what Arbitor69 mentioned, I either get people who don't really care about it or people who automatically link anime with hentai. It's why I don't bother telling others I like anime unless I they're my friends that I trust more than others or they already like anime. Usually among my fellow Asians I trust with this info where I live.

As for these new generation anime fags, they do have some fucking nerve to claim that they know more about anime than anyone else. Being a narutard or Bleachfag or whatever from the mainstream doesn't make you knowledgable about anime in the slightest. They might know more about those series than anyone else, but that's about it.

In fact, asking someone what's currently airing in Japan is a surefire way to tell if they follow the current anime season and if they're really otakus or not. If they can't list more than 3-5 anime of the season, laugh in their faces and claim superiority over them. Or even better, ask them what year did Neon Genesis Evangelion aired and who produced the anime. If they can't answer that, they deserve to be laughed in the face more. (Answer: 1995, Gainax studios) Testing their knowledge about old anime and new/current anime will let you know if they're blowing hot air or maybe they really know something. If they don't, laugh in their faces and walk away to find a better audience. I would.

@ZeroOBK: sure, we were all noobs one time, but at least we didn't brag about our knowledge then compared to now. Knowing what's mainstream in any other nation but Japan is proof that you're not an otaku in the truest sense.

I can count the number of animes Ive seen on one hand.

We must all work to elevate those lower than us into true otaku and save them from the pits of their own ignorance. If a noob comes to you do not turn him away. Laugh only as you educate them on the ways of the true otaku. Only then will this threat to our way of life be solved.

Never seen this before, besides my cousin. All she ever watched was Fruits Basket.

But if a Narutard did say all that stuff, I think it would be best for you to spoil the show for them. Mention everything you know that hasn't happened yet and watch them cry.

There's no way I could spoil a story because I think that's pretty rude but in that situation, if the person was a decent guy but Narutard, don't do it. Only if really annoying and ignorant.

Yes exactly! The lounge area at my community college used to have a bunch of narutards there and I just showed up with my laptop one day and start watching new anime right infront of them then they go "holy shit thats awesome!" and I converted some of them. Problem is now when I want to watch some anime I instead have to talk to them =X There are still some hardcore narutards though but oh well.

@ZeroOBK: I never said i was better than Them, And if you Read my Topic you would see that i said Everyone Starts off as a noob. The point of this topic was to discus the New "Generation" of noobs, and ask others of there Opinions on them and stories of encounters with them. In My opinion this Generation is a lot worse off because of there over bragging of things they know nothing of, unlike the Generations before them!

Luckily I never run into them much. I don't know many anime friends in real life, and the ones I do don't appreciate dubbed, maninstream, stuff you find on cable television. My friends on the net are all educated, or even fellow otakus, when it comes to anime. I've dealt with a few on MAL before, but I just lawl when they try to tell everyone that Bleach, Naruto and Full Metal Alchemist are the most amazing animes EVARS!

It's not as hopeless as you think. I've saved a few narutards and even a couple of gravitards before. You just have to be patient and fair.
