I buy them if I like it, and
available in my local stores. It's a hassle to import stuff.

Speaking of piracy, Doujins, for me are a form of piracy, or should I say the use characters in a self published work w/o the permission of the author/company who made the series(either anime or manga, it hurts whenever I use those words but some bastard shunned me whenever I use the word "cartoons").
I mean, they'll make a doujin, sell copies of it and will make make money in an instant; they did not even asked permission from whoever made it.
I guess it's a different thing in Japan if they make it there, or even on any country since there are no laws being re-inforced or even implemented about it, but use characters from a book for your own profit and I suppose this is where lawsuits will come knocking to your door.
Some points needs to be made clear.
-Doujinka's, doesn't get many money from the sales, usually the money that they got is used to cover up all the expenses for their next doujin project. The start to "earn" money when they get popular and people will buy their doujins even though they're expensive.
-Nope, it's actually the same thing in Japan, it's just that they think it's not worth it to enforce it at this level. On the contrary, some of them think this a good publicity and advertising for them. There are certain rules and work ethics to keep things in-check.
