It seemed like the writer definetly did not think out the conclusion or where he wanted to go with the story. The premise was fine and creative, but there wasn't really anything interesting going on after midway through the season.
I honestly didn't start to feel a lack of interest until the second movie.
Spoiler:
The second movie ... just wasn't that good. Simply put, next to nothing was resolved. I wasn't even expecting the whole "let's save Japan" angle to be resolved, but none of the character dilemmas were really solved either. Saki and her friends were just characters tagging along for the ride, Akira disappears with Mr. Outside, and the other Selecao are dead or have their memories erased. Which I think is especially bad for the character development of Number 11. We have no idea what happened to the "Juiz System". We find Akira's mom, don't know why she abandoned him, and then she disappears. We are suddenly introduced to Outside's granddaughters for really no reason at all. Number 3 is introduced, but we have no idea about her, at least Number 6 was funny when he showed up. Mononobe can't even be called the antagonist in this movie as he basically shows up and says "I quit". Killing him and Number 10 at the end there was pointless. Also pointless was Akira trying to be a "king", then just turning around and becoming a "terrorist".
This movie is kind of like a movie's ending with the hero giving a cool speech and then walking into the sunset and 10 seconds later trips over a rock. Cue credit roll.
Well said. Sums up what I what thinking about the movie as well.
