lol well just had a look at the first few pages

Well I just finished watching the anime. It was OK. The voice acting wasnt great, but I expected that after reading up on it at wikipedia.

Its got alot of nudity and blood flying all over the place. One thing that really bothered me is Yuka's character.

can't remember where i read it but in japan i think your alowed to date/marry your cousin don't hold me to this im not sure

incest is considerd siblings not cuisns for some reason

I was sad to see how old the topic on this anime is. I love this anime. I felt so bad for Lucy the whole time... even when she was killing people.

this was my first anime ^^ i watched it over and over ^^

@Loress ~ I felt bad for her too and i understand her "reasons" especially when that poor dog was killed... and the end almost made me cry ^^

When those kids killed that dog I was enraged. I practically cheered Lucy on. It made me so angry to know that this really does happen in real life. Children can be cruel.

holy crap. Sure a lot people like this anime, huh? ^^ it was one of my first ones too (one of the first 5).
This anime, along with chobits and other rare exceptions, is one of those animes that every anime noob bumps into and likes.
Dunno why that is, but it happens to almost everyone for as long as I can remember. =)

But I dont find it that great now (don't intend to offend anyone). When I was a noob at anime - when I bumped into this- I really liked it ( everybody does). I mean, it had pretty girls, super-powers, and gory stuff (yes, I like gore. It was one of the things that I liked about it initially xD). But it was weird, and I didn't like the opening. So why? why did I bump into it? I guess it's because of this hype. (wich I don't quite understand... :?)

Hey, can any you tell me what you liked about this anime? Maybe I can remember if the anime really had something unique to it that attracted me. Wich now, I sincerely cannot remember why I started watching this, besides being so hyped.

What I liked was the overall hatred Lucy had for the human race. She had reason that wasn't completely cliche. It wasn't like, oh, my parents were killed, I hate these people. It was something we can all relate to: being bullied. When she was young she was bullied. As we all know, children are easily molded at young ages. I felt that the anime/manga did the whole 'hatred' and 'racism(against Diclonii)' very well. As far as I can remember, the only reason Lucy hated humans was their discrimination against her. In turn, this hatred caused more humans to hate her kind.

Also, having an epic opening in Latin with classical art didn't hurt.

The reason i started to watch it was it's opening. I loved it and still love it and listen it ~especially the extended mix~. I liked how the story was evolving, reveal Kouta's and Lucy's past, they connections, the reason behind Kouta's parents death. I liked how the anime showed us Lucy's reasons, Nana's personality ~ she wasn't that cold blooded murder machine to begin with ~ Mayu's past, how she lived ~ with that bastard "dad" ~ and escaped from that hell. It wasn't the naked or gore scences that got me, it was the feelings between Kouta & Lucy. And the ending made me cry but i dont mind tears if the anime is that good. It completly got me when they kissed for the first & for the last time. ~ I'm always carried away when i watch animes ^^ ~ And sorry but i disagree with this:



i know it wasnt for offense, mine wont be too =) I cant agree with that only beginners can like or just like it for the first time. I loved it than and i still do. Years after years i still dig it up and re-watch it. It will be always in my top 5 ^^

oh and the shadow at the end... i dont want to admit that Lucy died... i just dont want it so it must be her ~ call me fanatic =P ~

Some of the stuff you said I can't actually remember very well XD it was like... 60 animes ago. And it wasn't one of the ones that got to me the most, so I forgot some stuff about it (specially the ending).

I guess you two have given me enough reasons to change my mind and consider this good. ^^

humm I dunno. I don't remember the ending very well. Could you help me remember how it was? x3 a quick paragraph on how the story was.

well to be short as possible:

Lucy & Kouta met in the past while they were kids. Kouta was the first one who didnt bullied her, in fact he was his first friend & the first human who said kind words to her. Day after day they got closer & closer and Lucy fell into love with him. But at Kouta's last vacation day, Lucy wanted to be with him at some kind of "party" (i dont remember well but it was some sorta Japanese festival) but Kouta lied to her. He told her that he will be with his cousin but he lied 'cause he told that his cousin is a boy... when Lucy saw them (Yuka & Kouta), it was the trigger, she went berserk, killed a lot of people than killed Koutas father and his little sister in front of his eyes... but she cant killed him... after this Kouta lost his memories about this incident and by the developing of the story he gains back his memories, and so on. When i learned that Kouta and Lucy knew each other... i was like: "wow i didnt expect that". At the end Lucy told Kouta that she loved him and she still in love with him. She just wanted to be with him, didnt want to do this horrible things. Kouta reaction was the trigger for my tears to appear 'cause he told her that he cant forgive her about killing his family, but he love she too. And will love her doesnt matter what she done, he just cant not love her. And so, they kissed for the first and for the last time. *gosh that was a damn good scene* after that Lucy left Kouta and faced with her fate... and "died" but at the very end someone pushed the door bell at Kouta's house and there was a shadow... ~ Wich MUST BE LUCY :D ~

face her end? wasn't there someone else involved in the story? :? The guys that were connected to that robot that lucy dismembered. wasnt the final showoff with them and lucy?
Maybe i'll watch this again.
