True but what I enjoyed s1 for were the smaller, arc mysteries (aka who is the crazy psycho-killer this time), solving stuff on your own and the overwhelming, gruesome mood. I still remember the excitement of analyzing specific episodes and reading similar breakdowns on blogs. Thanks to this (and the fact that I wasn't spoiled) I knew or suspected much before s2 and had the satisfaction of learning it 'the hard way'.
I'm not saying that we didn't need a conclusion or that I expected something else from it but I found s1 and s2 quite different on few levels with the former suiting my preferences far better.
