Protagonist's might (a.k.a. Protagonist's speciality, Protagonist's prerogative...you name it) is the recapitulative appellation to a series of supernatural power or abilities that majorly present in those 2-Dimensional universes. And those so-called Protagonists can have and use it.
Not all the protagonists have Protagonist's might. But any protagonists, no matter male or female, humanoid or non-humanoid, if they are the holders of Protagonist's might, they'll be incredibly tough. Stronger ones, like Anakin Skywalker, can kick anyone's ass at will. Weaker ones, even a sucker like Luke Skywalker, can be almost impossible to be killed and even be able to defeat Darth Vader from time to time.
Protagonist's might is also considered as the key element to defeat those "Dark (Evil) Overlords", for they have a series of special power or abilities called "BEelzebub's might" (see below).
[edit]Primary Phenomena
Protagonist's might always comes up with an invisible hyper-protective-forcefield-generator, used to shield the protagonists from enemies' distant attacks. All the projectiles, electronic arcs, laser beams, plasma charges launched to protagonists from the enemies, will be easily deflected. This kind of defense system will be functional despite the level of protagonists' agilities and directions of their movement. Thimbleful attacks may penetrate the forcefield and hit the protagonists, but the execution will be reduced to minimum and always impact on unimportant positions in order to increase the so-called "dramatic effect".
The prior defense system can partly function in close-quarter-melee. Mostly, it will not protect the protagonists from taking damage inflicted by enemies' melee weapons (knife, sword, spear, lightsaber, etc.). But large amount of hit points will be nullified. So the "deep/deadly impacts" seldom happen to protagonists, even they are brutally pierced by enemies. Actually, the direct outcome of 95% of those "deep/deadly impacts" is "explode the protagonists' hidden supernature potential". This defense system also enable those protagonists repel/adapt hazardous surrounding environment such as vacuum, high pressure, high radioactive, etc, until...suddenly not.
Protagonist's might always integrated with some sort of hyper-detection-device. So 99% of the protagonists can descry 99% of the stealthed and camouflaged enemies, and see through what they are actually planning.
Benefited by the phenomenon above, the protagonists can always discover at least one deadly weak point on those bad-ass Dark (Evil) Overlords or their fancy plans of world domination/destruction, especially when they are down for the count. Then the protagonists can snatch victory out of defeat by sudden, successful retaliations, or stop those evil plans when they are about to fulfill.
Protagonist's might also has an advanced biological/mechanical regeneration system, which allows the holders rapidly and perfectly recover from the damages their receive.
If necessary, protagonists can communicate with their friends, even foes by telepathic methods. So they can also "remote sense" or "remote view" the presence of their friends and foes.
If necessary, protagonists will be ETERNAL. And if NOT necessary, protagonists will NEVER get aged on all the physical factors (face, shape, strength, etc.) and also NEVER pass out by time.
[edit]Secondary Phenomena
Protagonists are the strongest ones throughout the stories.
Protagonists are NOT the strongest ones in the beginning, they'll become stronger and stronger with the development of the stories.
Protagonists are NOT the strongest ones in the beginning and they WON"T get stronger progressively; however, they'll be unexpectedly strong when they face the (final) bosses.
Protagonists are absolutely, definitely, exactly...correct.
Protagonists may be wrong, but it's always because of their fellows' faults.
Protagonists are wrong and make mistakes, but nobody accuses or charges them. So they are still considered guiltless.
Protagonists never die; even if they fall from the torch of the Statue of Liberty, they'll survive unscratched.
Protagonists may die or enter the status of death-like shock, but they'll be back later, and always with greater strength.
Protagonists will die and won't come back to life, but they die in unusually spectacular sequences.
Protagonists will die and won't come back to life; the story then ends.
When protagonists are in trouble, their loyal friends will come to help them.
When protagonists are in trouble, at least one hidden character will appear out of nowhere to assist them. Those hidden characters are always stronger and cooler than protagonists, and have an 80% possibility to join protagonists' teams later.
No matter how sucky protagonists are, they'll always attract a squadron of the opposite sex who are willing to follow them, even including those from the enemies' side, that's also a way to acquire intelligence.
All the weapons protagonists use will function at least 400% better than normal. An umbrella can be used as a lightsaber, a lightsaber can be used to dismantle a Star Destroyer, a tiny Walter PPK can be used to blow up a T-90, and those fire-arms seem to never need to reload. Similarly, all the vehicles, even a miserable Lada can be strong as a Hummer.
Protagonists have incredibly high capabilities of learning and improving new knowledge and skills, and soon their craftsmanship will be better than even the most experienced veteran.
If one protagonist has at least one of the phenomena listed above, he/she/it can be referred as a holder of the Protagonist's might.
[edit] Side effect
Freedom is not free, so Protagonist's might also has its payment.
When a holder of the Protagonist's might appears, mostly the Dark (Evil) Overlord(s) appears as well, so the Protagonist's might can be considered as the equivalent of disaster and crisis.
Dark (Evil) Overlords appear, the holders of the Protagonist's might must defeat them, and those defeated foes will come back again and again. So the holders of the Protagonist's might cannot have peaceful lives, as well as their fellows. One of the best example is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Since most of the holders of the Protagonist's might will assemble their private "harems", so they'll have awkward moments when dealing with relationship between opposite sex. Sometimes this kind of problems are more difficult than dealing with Dark (Evil) Overlords.
[edit] General conclusion
Holders of the Protagonist's might will be extremely strong and powerful at the proper time.
Holders of the Protagonist's might won't make mistakes, or make mistakes together with their fellows.
Holders of the Protagonist's might won't die or die "permanently": if they die permanently, the stories die with them.
Mostly, only the enemy leaders' attacks can inflict REAL damages to the Holders of the Protagonist's might. And most of the damages can be perfectly self-healed speedily.
Holders of the Protagonist's might will always be assisted by someone.
Holders of the Protagonist's might's may get their asses kicked by someone at sometime and somewhere, but they can be defeated by no one, and they can always save the world at the last second before its enslavement/destruction.

[edit] Counterpart: BEelzebub's might
BEelzebub's might is also the recapitulative appellation to a series of special power or abilities that only present in those 2-Dimensional universes. But the holders are those so-called "Dark (Evil) Overlords".
BEelzebub's might and Protagonist's might are similar in majority, but they are still differences in a few factors.
Compared with Protagonist's might, BEelzebub's might is much more stable, so the Dark Overlords are extremely strong all the time, and get stronger progressively.
Protagonist's might obeys its holders 100% unconditionally. But BEelzebub's might sometimes has self-awareness, and it may take over some holders' soul and turn them into unstoppable killing machines.
The holders of BEelzebub's might can summon many more underlings/minions/peons, even millions in number. However, compared to protagonists' few and standout fellows, almost all the Dark Overlords' underlings suck.
The holders of BEelzebub's might have one extra ability--"brainwash", capable of summoning even some protagonists to join them.
Protagonist's might and BEelzebub's might don't repel each other. Many protagonists (or antagonists) are both holders of Protagonist's might and BEelzebub's might, or Protagonist's might and BEelzebub's might can transform into each other. It also can be said that the BEelzebub's might can attach itself to some protagonists and can be detached from some Dark Overlords if conditions are proper. That may explain why some protagonists are converted to Dark Overlords under certain conditions and vice vera when circumstances are right.
If Protagonist's might and BEelzebub's might are pitted against each other, Protagonist's might will always win if at the end of the story and BEelzebub's might will always win at any other point in the story.
