I just watched this again for New Years with a couple friends.

This describes my reaction even after watching it a second time.

is this available yet? i can only find cam versions and was wondering if anyone knew were to find a good copy... if not can someone tell me when i can expect to find one.

You can also easily stream it from most streaming sites.

But you can't stream 1080p, which I highly recommend.

Glad to see that it stuck to the book. I could have sworn that there we're a few things missing, but I read that book a couple of years ago so it might just be my imagination.

Oh man, that was good. Really good. Damn. The kind of good where I finish it but its not really over in my head and I keep having to go back and watch the awesome scenes.

I'm surprised by how much that made me give a crap about Yuki, because before this it was hard. Now... now I get it.

Would those of you who've read the novel recommend reading it first? I have a friend who says he's gonna wait till he reads the novel before watching the movie and I want to know if I should tell him to watch it first.

I read the novels 3 years ago (when they were still on Baka-tsuki) all in one go. So for me, watching the movie made me remember a lot of points that I had already forgotten, but did not particularly make the movie better or worse.
I don't think reading the novel is a necessity as long as you have the basic knowledge regarding the Haruhi series. Although it is very important that you know about some of the events prior to Disappearance, namely Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody.

He's seen all of the second season (He even watched all of Endless Eight, each episode, which I couldn't stomach past the swimsuit scenes (>.<)).

You can always watch it "first" then 00. It's not like watching haruhi will ruin your experience with 00.

It's different movie.....

Whenever I look back on Haruhi, I think the anime and movie were fairly good. However, when you think about the fact that it is originally a novel, it is pretty amazing all the ideas and concepts that happen. For example, the reoccurring summer was a fantastic idea.

It just translated bad into anime.

Only AFTER I've seen the 00 movie... yeah that's right Kai I waited, this Haruhi movie is alright. Animation was pretty good. Story... well just seems like the same thing that happened at the end of the first season but stretched out into LotR movie length. And after seeing this, sorry Kai but this is NOT something worth the ASAP urgency.

This was available last Christmas, yet, you can watch that at that time but you still proritize Gundam even though it's not out yet.
and then after you already watch the RAW of 00 first for godsakes yet you're still waiting that and decides to shun this aside. Just how biased can you be?

You should know that I am a Gundam fan first. I am sad to hear that you have forgotten that fact. And as for fanboy? Don't make me laugh. Just because I decide to watch this later doesn't make me biased. And just fyi for you since it seems you didn't know, at the time you told me to watch this movie, I was already downloading 00 sub. I am not going to download another movie and slow my download speed further which was already ridiculously slow. And mind you this movie was the next thing I got next. Besides, I was never big of Haruhi so obviously this isn't something I needed to watch right away and it's not like I said the movie sucked before I saw it anyways. In the end not being a fan of something and watching it later doesn't equate to being biased against that series as you so accused me of. Also just another fyi for you, if I was a fanboy, I would justify shows like SEED Destiny as "awesome" and not my opinion of it now as what you should already know.
