I have absolutely no idea about where we should go to grub right now, but we could always default to Cheesecake Factory if need be. I'd really like to find people with good suggestions before Weds or so, so I can decide on a meetup time/place and reserve a table. I'm also not familiar with the grounds, so I'm gonna need suggestions on that as well.

Last year, they gave us a sort of brochure with a map for restaurants close by, depending on the kind of cuisine you'd want to have like Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Mediterranean cuisines. We'll prolly get this on Thursday when we get those badges me thinks, and you could post on afterwards to finalize the whereabouts if you like for a Fri thingie maybe? This will be my fifth time to otakon, and as normal i will be attending it all weekend. I know of a good place to get sushi if that's an interest, or a pub to get a burger and brew (if we are all of age). Of course, there's always that one restaurant on the waterfront that has good seafood... and of course the ESPN building.
All of this is pretty much along the way if you exit onto Pratt and head towards the aquarium.

I might go, depending if I can get cash. I'll be spending my Friday in Baltimore and I might be able to convince my mom to let me go...even though I'm on horrible terms with her.
In any case, is there a universal meeting spot? I could suggest the fountains where all the cosplayers go, which is by the video game room. That seems to be pretty universal.
On a random note, anyone know an easy cosplay I can do? I still have my Beam Katana from last year, but I don't have the hair to go with it. I'm not sure where to buy a wig that would fit the bill.

I'd prefer a place where the people of age could get a brew (pub would do nicely), and could also seat upwards to 15 people. We did Cheesecake Factory at Anime Boston, so if we can't think of something that would make a decent backup plan (I'd like to figure this out within a couple of days so I can reserve a table). We also need to decide on a meetup place. The fountain would do nicely I guess, but where is it at?

cheesecake factory sounds good. umm the fountain is in the smaller con building in the front entrance of it.

There's quite a few pubs that are good in that area; the one closest to the con usually is pretty busy (that's on lombard), the one i went to and thought was really nice was up near treemont plaza (don't remember the name of the street tho).
for a better idea of where those two are; a map of the area. the one closer to the con is near the 16 and 14 (food symbols) on that, and the other is near the 8 (hotel). and a safe back-up, even tho it may be loud, is the espn #7, which i also think is a hard rock.
and also that fountain is in the Pratt lobby, which would be in the right part of the center closest to the street. its also the entrance that we are usually forced to go into when they first open the building.

Hmmm...not sure about a pub. I'm still not old enough to drink, not that I actually would drink alcohol. So...should the initial meeting place be the fountains? It seems pretty logical. After all, it's where all the cosplayers gather.
On another note, we need a way to identify each other in a huge crowd. Signs aren't permitted, so what if we have the FAKKU logo in our badges?

As far as i thought i read, the admins will be wearing fakku shirts. at least that was in the other thread about otakon.

I'll be wearing a FAKKU shirt, glasses, possibly a grey hoodie. You can also just look at the front page and see my picture haha. I'll be there all weekend so if you see me say something, I'll be with the main group most of the time.
As for food, I'm not picky, I'll eat anywhere. I do love seafood though.

I'll also be wearing my FAKKU shirt. If I can't sneak a sign in, we'll just hold Mike up in the air or something. Seafood would be awesome since I haven't had much of it since I moved here. I'll poke around some more. Let's go with 6PM on Saturday next to the fountain.

Is this the fountain that's being discussed? I took this last year because I was reminded of the bible saying that when hell is full the dead would walk the earth.
Also, I think some of the hotels in the area have places to eat as well. I know the Sheraton I am staying at has a sports bar in it so something like that is a possibility.

i think cheesecake factory sounds delicious... i was going to suggest an asian-y noodle place i went to two years ago, but it's not sit-down so i think handling so many people at once would be a problem.
