You never say anything or warn about anything regarding the page or community itself on the front page.
Just to address this, there was a
sticky post right on the front page a couple weeks back which has a section called Scanlations that very clearly says "At the end of December,
all scanlations will be removed from FAKKU." This was of course in addition to the fact that it had been first announced months ago.
In that case you guys really need to learn how to present your news.
As of now, I see a side-wide sticky with the contents: "Unlicensed content has been removed from FAKKU. You can learn more about this decision here. We hope you choose to support us!"
THAT is the type of sticky you should use BEFORE doing it too. At least a month or since your sticky post on the front page - because it is not only "news" (and event that is arguable, as you said) but a change on sidewide scale.
Not everyone has time or maybe interest in reading your latest news about Kickstarters or new Artists you support (not saying you should stop posting about that), so don't go around guessing that squeezing in some warning about the
provided functionality of the site (in this case, having access to unlicensed content) is going to be seen. Simple as that.
A sticky notification on the top now? This shifts the layout and always attracts attention, even with your rather subtle color choice.
You even seem to try to retrospectively change the UI to reflect your changes (the subscription tag is back I see, presumably to make it even more clear that no free content is left). Although it seems futile now, I find it great that you are doing that and hope you keep news editorial and announcement strategies more in mind in the future - makes me think I personally might overcome my grudge over this second moderation screw-up and subscribe, although I'm still doubtful.

First and foremost Fakku has no rights and licenses to those "removed content", they were Illegal for Fakku to have on site.
Still FAKKU provided a specific service by givin access to them.

Second
you're not paying for those removed content
That is true, but the problem is not the removal in itself. I know there are many people butthurt about FAKKUS reorientation, but this is not what my post was about about. [EDIT: Although i do have expressed myself ambiguously, I apologize for that] I am angry about the lack of correct hinting and communication regarding changes in services.
It speaks about how they might act as a business too. - pulling a service without adequate announcement arrangement.
Yes, FAKKU will get away with that probably, just like Konami will survive after pulling P.T. and silently removing Kojimas name everywhere - it is/was their right. But the number of people still angry about that is enormous - a year later! Once you are in the "serious" business, PR and Service Support is more than "just" hiring some mods that post in Forums.
FAKKU needs supporters, and it will only hurt itself by having bad communication skills.
So should the content have been removed? Yes, I totally agree.
Was the situation handled profesionally? Absolutely not.
Also, I wouldn't go guessing I am the only one angry and worrisome about that.
Ignoring users taking their time to give you a reflection that you yourself don't seem to have done is even more disrespectful - and makes him even more correct in this very case.
