There's roughly what, 11 million illegal immigrants here. I'm pretty sure more than 5% of them voted for her which completely accounts for the difference in popular vote and then some.

And beyond that, BOTH sides ran a campaign designed for Electoral Votes over popular votes. Maybe if Hilary actually ran a campaign that looked like she was going for the popular vote (yeah right, betcha she ran minimal ads in California and New York) you could argue about popular votes at that time. But that's not the type of campaign she waged. That's not the type of campaign Trump waged.

And the electoral college SHOULD stay in place. It might need revamping to some degree to bring it more in line and make it so it's actually worth it to travel to a variety of other cities. But it absolutely should stay in place. Pure popular vote would isolate the country further than it already is under the current system. And it would mean that a handful of cities in the country would decide everything.

You do know to register to vote in California you need your driver's license / identification card and your Social Security number, at least the four last numbers. How many mojados have legal social security number or at least a register fake ass one with. There's not even enough documents to do it. It's hard to find the person who can put in the info and make the Social Security and birth certificate and Naturalization papers into the system. Even taking a dead babies one is harder then buying the documents just to pass on visual inspection. The state does check them out. You do know a visa or green card can't work also, right. Are there some who voted... not sure since no one know the actual amount of voter fraud happens. Not enough to affect state or federal elections. I'm sure the other states in the west/east are the same registration. now there are some non citizens who has legal numbers but can't vote since the state check the info out on your legal resident, citizenship and criminal record. Why is it a bad thing to have the same process you elect your senator and mayor with the same who fucking wins the cola wars but not your leader of the federal govt. Do I really need to explain? Is it not apparent or are you genuinely so enamored with direct democracy/mob rule you genuinely can't see why? I mean, even in my civics 6th grade class I knew why. The biggest flaw of the electoral college is of course the winner takes all route many states take.

Because there only 33 i think cases of voter fraud since 2000, of course there more but that the thing... no one knows. It's not like we have one election. We have 50 states which the counties are running the show, but more like many more then the counties since the precincts are there own little election. If it wouldn't change the effect of the 41th precincts of napa county... how is it gonna effect the 30,000 other precincts in cali alone. That why voter fraud can ever work.... to many ballot to stuff. The electronic voter booth seem to be where you can fuck with large numbers if the counties didn't know the amount of voters in that area.

And yes. If the guy running for senate or house is gauge by the majority win form of election... why should the president be another form that was created by the Framers as a safety valve. A way of disqualify a candidate for various reasons up to those who are on the college. Fuck even if we change it to some else it defeats the purpose for voting. A system where 13 states could choose for the other 37 isn't that fine of a system. Even if we go by a congressional district based system where who win the 16th California district wins that electors point... it doesn't change the fact that only 40 times the electoral and popular vote was on par. It's not like it only was talked about when it happen. 1976 they try to reform it. 1954 they tried to repeal it. I just don't see why the oldest way of electing isn't outdated over what states points you win vs the majority of votes. Fuck it let's make the states even. From California to Rhode Island. The same 3 points to a majority. It not like the 'Great compromise' is necessary now of days. We don't consider a black man to be 3/5 of a human anymore.

Maybe because the two elected officials have two different functions?
Maybe their policies affect vastly different groups and are carried out in different ways?
An imperfect balancing act between 2 forms of govt, as in imperfect as it might be, is no reason to go to mob rule.




1. Direct democracy is older.
2. If the states were even I'd just be senate votes again.
3. They weren't considered human at all and that's a problem of a terrible compromise that undermined the system. Something being corruptible otherwise every human institution should be ridden of. This isn't me saying it's perfect, but the validity of 1 regional candidate getting the highest federal positions in a non-representative government is shitty.

I should have probably said gerrymandering is an issue with the electoral college too.

Direct democracy in america... it's hard enough to get 1/3 of the people to vote once every 4 years. Imagine getting them to vote for every governmental decision. Even congress barely can do it and it part of there job.
