Sora's project aside, I have found a video that resembles the Chinese video you have posted in the forums quite some time ago. This time however, I think you can understand it.
Contrast this with the video you shared with me which I translated (badly)
Now, if we post this somewhere prominent in the forums, read the nasty comments about those videos (and those who posted it), we might come up with a story for Sora. Perhaps a cyberattack on Sora's virtual world with both these videos in protest of a language ban of sorts.
I don't blame anyone if the vn doesn't take off. It's a pretty tall order.
I was thinking up some ideas for the vn a couple days ago, but they fell flat quickly. I would imagine a similar scenario occurring amongst everyone followed by increments of discouragement and demotivation.
I'd say it's too early to assume the worst. Sora did say he's pretty busy. Also, it is a collaboration. He's more or less in charge of the project, but we don't necessarily need him to brainstorm ideas, characters, etc.
Ah, didn't mean to say that the vn is doomed. I'm just following an 'expect the worst, hope for the best' type of thinking.
Creating characters and what not requires some form of plot foundation, though I agree that brainstorming ideas is a good thing to do (which I've been doing on occasion!) Also, I'd still feel bad about coming up with something and running with the idea if sora wasn't on board with it, so I'm willing to wait.
We're all active and around, I think, but sora is the connecting piece. He's the one with the connections and experience. We can't really progress without him, but we can theorize and develop storyboarding.
You can temporarily change name or make another account, you know.
By the way, you still up for that collaboration thingy? Google docs almost never disconnect you unlike PiratePad, so maybe we can use that. I stay up very late at night these days, so I might catch you more often.
I found the latest episode from the podcast Writing Excuses to be really interesting. It focuses on character development by looking at three attributes: competency, proactivity and sympathy. I've never thought to look at characters that way before.
This is another story that is to your tastes.

An idea occurred to me. It seems that a Hellsing, Twilight, Harry Potter and the Abolition of Britain crossover could be one of the most wonderful things that could be put onto paper.
