All pokemon has IV. SO you have no IV advantage whatsoever against the opponent. You get some ups, they get it. Cancels each other out.

All pokemon, even in game. A proven fact if you actually bothered to battle the same trainer over and over, get their damage statistics and then compute the stats out.

PO as a sim follows the game mechanics exactly. Sure you don't have to exp spam, but as far as the battle system go, it's BW minus the animation. Don't say things that imply it's some hack stuff.

Well IVs aren't always the same, or are you talking about Trainer battles only? Or is it just that IV stats are only calculated after capturing a wild?

IV stats is inherent to a pokemon, as much as base stats is. Sure it differs from one pokemon to another, but all have it, and it's always calculated.

Yes I know that, but I was saying that the IV stat would have to be taken into account along with the EVs, before when I quoted you, you had only mentioned the EV stats of random pokemon and not specializing in anything. The IV stats can't be trained, so that's why I mentioned them. The randoms with random EVs could have no specialization but could have 31 in attack or something like that.

Still I don't see how that is an advantage. Random EVs yes, it is a boost that the opponent don't get. But the opponent do get IV, and for all the awesome 31 IV you have, they can have that too. There's no advantage, as far as IV is concerned.

Can and actually having are two different things Mibu, it's still just a maybe no matter how you look at it. Maybe you have an advantage from EVs and IVs and maybe you don't.

EV is always an advantage. As for IV, yeah, maybe. Maybe a disadvantage too, nothing prevents you from having terribad IV.

One thing about the specialized IV. When I say specialized I mean something like this.

See, it's so obvious the EVs are spent on specific stats. It's trained for a specific role, unlike the likely IV spread you'll get when you play through the game casually.

Yeah but see there? You just said trained specific for EVs but casual play for IV. If you're going to use an example why do one specific and one not? If you're trying to make a point that EVs are more important than IVs at least talk about both being done right.

No but it can be bred, and it can be effected during breeding. Get a parent with a good IV stat and it can be passed on to the child, hell good IV stat from both parents and they can be passed on using the Power items.
