Hello dudes. I'll be getting a DS system soon and I want to get a pokemon game for it but I can't decide which one. Should I get Soul Silver/Heart Gold or Black/White? Which would be better?

BW definitely. Newer gen and stuff.

I'd recommend both, but it depends. Do you want an all new experience? If so, then go with B/W. Did you love Gold and Silver growing up and want to play a lovely remake of it? Then I'd go with HG/SS. I'd get both eventually if you can, though.

I loved Gold growing up. The only reason why I stopped playing it was because the save function stopped working. I'd love to play it again with the newer graphics of today but I'd also love playing the new gen games. Sadly, due to budget issues, I can only afford to buy one game. Hell, the DS itself I'm going to buy pre-owned to save money.

How does Black/White hold up story wise? Have they added anything new to Gold/Silver?

Story wise, Black and White is pretty solid. As far as additions to Gold/Silver go:

And to add to that, Heart Gold/Soul Silver got the best music among the pokemon games so far

Black or White if you want storyline and new Pokemon, or HeartGold or SoulSilver if you want some of the oldy but goodie pokemon and a longer storyline because of the 16 badges. Personally I'd say black or white but I never played the gold/silver remakes.

I always did like going around and collecting 16 badges and that final battle with Red up in Mt.Silver was epic, but I would also like to have a new fresh story line to play. Hmm.. in Black/White do pokemon follow you out of their pokeballs like in SS/HG? I would imagine they would, but just making sure.

No they do not, they removed that feature for some reason so no more pokemon trailing around with you.

To those that play the DS game, I'm curious. Do you actually use hazards in game? If yes, how much does it actually help with your battles and if not, why?

No, no hazards.. That'd be a waste of turn because we can kill almost anything with one or two hits surely

even against the supposedly high leveled trainers in BW?
