I'd say the egg. Before the chicken was in the current form of evolution, it had to go there, so naturally, the last egg, aka the first chicken would be the "pinacle" of the evolution and thus be the first chicken, so the egg was first.

Well it entirely depends on what you believe in aswell. Incase you are religious and believe in the creation in the bible for example, than the chicken was first, also the second time (Noah's ark, though I am drifting off topic there). HOWEVER, should we take the approach, that the chicken managed to develop itself fully to the point it is now, while "growing" and than lay the egg, the chicken was first of course. So basicly it is a theory with a loophole like the question what was first, the chicken or the eg........
