Despite the commotion with the recent firearms restrictions or whatever we're gonna call it happening in America, there is a lot of news and development in the firearms industry(because of SHOT Show).
The first is from Mathews Harris Harmonics who manufacture bows and the like. If any of you know a thing about bows, you'd probably know what a Damper is. They are basically a suspended weight that absorb vibration from firing the bow. What Mathews Harris has done is take that technology, bring it to a larger scale and install it onto a Mossberg shotgun stock. In theory, this will 'dampen' the recoil made from this 12 gauge bad boy much like the way it would dampen vibrations in a bow. No released retail price yet but sounds promising.
Picture of the Damper. As you can see its suspended by rubber.

McMillan, famous for making military sniper rifles like the TAC-50, released a new and quite interesting piece called the ALIAS MBA(Modular Bolt Action). The ALIAS is a 5.56mm Bolt Action Weapon System, its two part receiver very much resembles the AR-15 platform and any magazine and pistol grip for the AR-15 is compatible with the ALIAS. Its mainly being sold as modular parts but also available as a whole in several standard configurations, the one in the images is designated the ALIAS CS5-Q and features a 12.5 inch barrel, collapsible QD stock, quad rail and suppressor. When the stock and suppressor are detached, this rifle is only 23.5 inches long, enough for a backpack. Would love to get this and I'm pretty sure the thing is well more than legal here.
Sexy lookin' thing
For quite a while now, the firearms industry have been appealing to the "Zombie-Hunter" market and EoTech is no exception with their new sight; the Zombie II. A continuation of their previous sight(now designated Zombie I), these sights sport a unique biohazard reticule.
Yeah, that's pretty much all that's special about it
The Zombie II also features the Reaper Z camouflage featured in Black Ops 2(I've never played it before) so I'm guessing they're also appealing to the gamer community as well.
The DRD Paratus, which I wrote about recently, also made an appearance at this year's SHOT Show. It was introduced last year in about August and Youtube famous "FPS RUSSIA" made a video of it a while back as well(one which nearly saw the end of his life) so its no wonder they'd show it at SHOT Show either.
The Paratus-16 being displayed in it's breakdown form, all snug in its carry case.
Well, firearms industries have already taken action to the new firearm restrictions, lots of companies have been releasing single-shot break-action rifles recently. Break action rifles are those that 'break' at the barrel much like those typical double barrel shotguns you see being OP in movies and games. Even Advanced Armament Corp has released one which they call their Handi-Rifle and is loaded for .300 AAC Blackout. The barrel is 16.2 inches long and threaded at the end for suppressors, weighing at about 6.9 pounds, it makes a good backup hunting rifle.
Looks like a solid piece of work.
Onto some miscellaneous gun stuff, the company TAPCO released these cute iPhone cases that feature a gun, so far only either the AR-15 or AK-47. Personally, I've never been a fan of the iPhone but these cases are quite lovely. . . not enough to make me buy one though.
The AR-15
The AK-47
Also from TAPCO was some classic style AK goodness(non of the tactical stuff). The Red Laminate AK-47 Stock set is a new addition to TAPCO's AK stock sets already available in Grey, Black or Brown. Besides giving the AK a nice classic(and Romanian, did I mention its Romanian style) look, it also features a thick rubber buttpad to absorb recoil, the grip also is upgradeable to have a checker or new skull pattern.
Classy!
AK, rightfully feared as the harbinger of death
And on tactical news for the AK, Strike Industries released the first ever Keymod system for the AK. For those who don't know, the Keymod System was a new standardised method, first released in last years SHOT Show, to attach accessories onto the rifle fore ends without the need for rails(but it could also use rails). It was open sourced by VLTOR to allow the manufacture of KeyMod accessories to anyone and now, after all these KeyMod systems for the AR-15, the AK finally is able to get a taste of the new tactical system.
As you can see, the KeyMod allows for slim rails to be attached, among other things.
And to end it off, a nice message from the boys at Military Minds
They always make these nice pictures, makes me want to print them into posters to hang in my room.
