Are there any compact handguns that pack a moderate to good punch out there..?
That is an answer everybody wants to know... Because of that there is so many guns and calibres in the first place.
Sooo let's start with: What is the use for your gun. Like sport shooting, home defence concealed carry?
Let's carry on with:
Have you ever shot a gun? If so which one.
Have you got any experience with different handgun calibres?
What is the size of your hand (I have large hand a long fingers therefore I have troubles using subcompact handguns or guns as small as Beretta 71)?
-Sport shooting, because back at my homeland guns are a rarity combat-wise("Preman" thugs, thieves, and motorbike gangs back in my homeland prefers melee instead.)
-A service pistol, chambered in 9mm, i've also fired a .45 1911 few years back. Never fired a revolver before.
-Mostly 9x19mm or .45 ACP.
-Medium-length fingers.

Like Electronic Arts? :D
I'd say that's pretty accurate.
Well for sports shooting it's better to have full size weapon or extended barrel weapon. I personally prefer 9mm and SA/DA action.
Glock ain't a bad pick... If not anything it's balanced and reliable nothing that excels per se.
CZUB usually offers it's best to foreign market. I have an old style CZ 75 but from what I have seen that new P-07 Duty,P-07 and P-09 line is pretty impressive. The 75B itself is considered one of the best handguns of it's era.
I never heard anybody say a bad word about FN... But that may just be because they don't have a market share here... Shame... I'd like to buy some of their guns. Especially FNX series.
I also hear a lot of praise on the M&P and would like to eventually test it for myself.
Interesting enough a compact sized pistol that picked up my interest the Daewoo DP51 receives some positive reviews from that little that is available on the gun... on the updated Lionheart LH9 is much more information.
But basic guidelines on how to choose the gun are these:
Does it fit and sits well in your hand?
Do you like the way trigger is going?
Can you afford it?
Are you comfortable with the calibre it shoots (and can you afford shooting said calibre)?
Are you satisfied with the firearms safeties?
Do you like the trigger action?
Does the size of the gun fits the intended purpose? (I carry a full size all steel double stack handgun as my EDC for over a year now... It's pain in the arse especially during spring and summer)
