Correction: it does indicate match time. The purple occult orb just appears at regular intervals during the match.
There're are also purple mini-orbs [size=10](really wish I know what these are actually called)[/h] that appear when you white-stun an enemy, which fly towards the timer immediately; maybe these mini orbs influence the occult orb's spawn time.
To add to this, if you get hit by the enemy while attempting to use your special skill, one of your claimed occult orbs will be transferred to the enemy.

Meh, TH 14.5 doesn't pique my interest in the slightest. As I've said before, it should have been more of a Competitive Danmaku game than a Fighting game. That's what Touhou started out as.
That's understandable. The occult system
does change things up a bit, but this game is pretty much HM 2.0. Truly, a playable Satori would be it's only saving grace.
