I have seen Nichijou it is indeed very funny. And my experience with American television has led me to believe that Anime is in pretty much every way vastly superior to non-anime.
[color=#006FFF]Agreeing with CO2 here, I also think this is a very broad statement. There are a lot of thing wrong with it but comedy itself is not "region specific"--comedy is comedy. The quality and style of animation is what differs. An example of two series I will gladly watch over any random anime that I don't already love would be Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. I don't expect you to look these up or try them, but try not to be so narrow-minded as to call everything that isn't anime inferior to Japanese animation.
[color=#ff69b4]I've watched a bit of Gravity Falls and it was pretty good, but I never really got into it.
I think when it comes to anime that not Japanese animation the 3 that come to mind are RWBY, Avatar: The Last Airbender and Avatar: Legend of Korra.
[color=#006FFF]Avatar is probably the highest quality western "anime", definitely. While I got tired of it, I do respect its quality--namely the music and animation. Very nice. I feel for the fans since it's moving to digital only. I'd be super pissed if I was a big fan of the series.
Gravity Falls is probably my favorite Western show though simply because it's surprisingly really well thought out. It starts off as what seems to be nothing more than a silly comedy cartoon but as you progress through they realize there's something going on and these weird creatures have some sort of "origin" maybe; there are suddenly a ton of questions being wondered--"Trust No One" is written in the last episode of season one and the more you watch the more you realize how true that is in the sense that everyone seems to be much more than they seem in some way or another; and me being the mystery story nerd I am, I find it
extremely interesting. The subtly of the series is also something to be admired. So many subtle clues, some leading nowhere and others leading who knows where. Ahh, so good, haha.
