Those are some quite popular games you've got there. A number of those have Vista patches, as well.
Regardless, whether or not is has anything to do with the preference of being with it for years, XP has become my preferred OS. As a favorite, I'd still toss it up to 2000 Server or 98SE, but I couldn't imagine moving back to those in this day and age. Unfortunately, we won't have a choice between XP or Vista soon enough, because I believe that XP will be taken off of the market within a months time. I may have my time frame wrong, but it's very soon.

I'm not here to toss any *nix/Mac user's salad, but spaxxor is correct. There have been so many complaints about the Vista series that they're going to release or begin unveiling a new OS in the coming decade (around the time they're going to remove XP support).

meh Windows who needs it, lets all go back MS DOS 6.2, manually configuring EMS/XMS memory, multiple boot disks to cover every eventuality. Desperatly strugling to load drivers into high mem, damn I had some sweet autoexec.bat amd config.sys setups...

well the gui in xp is just simplified does commands...... hence why you can do everything faster through the command line

I haven't heard anything about a new OS, but it doesn't surprise me. Microsoft has never been one to hold on to a format for too long, as XP is their longest running supported OS.

I've been running vista now for about 6 months and i find it alot less anoying then XP. However no matter how hard microsoft tries vista is just a poor copy of Mac OS X, i prefer using a PC due to flexibility but there are days when i wish that a UNIX based OS was dominant!
Theres a reason why almost all supercomputers run UNIX.
Could anyone suggest some good linux distros, didnt really like Ubuntu?

Other than that it can be a bitch about letting programs be accessed.
Well for one Vista LOOKS a whole lot better that XP. It has compatibility for Dx10.1 which XP does not. Jumping from XP to Vista was really hard but other than that I don't see much difference just a Vista user.

I never had any problems switching from XP to Vista and I have never had a BSoD either. Actually... my computer has never crashed while running Vista. Only that shitty game ArmA has managed to completely lock the system (Although they say they don't support Vista, which would be why... even though I can get games like Warcraft I and II to run on it.).
There are quite a few changes to Explorer (not Internet Explorer), with the additions of favorites and a much more personalized experience. I hated XP too much to bother trying to do too many things with it so I couldn't tell you that much about what's different. There's enough different for me that I love Vista.
