I thought this series was going to go in a darker root than its predecessor.
Lin loses her bending, the airbenders are captured, Bolin, Asami and Iroh are captured, Korra and Mako walk right into an arena surrounded by equalists and Amon, with him being arguably the strongest non-avatar bender (great plot twist) in either series. And oh yea, he took Korra's bending too.
It looked pretty bleak, and I was loving every minute of it.
For some reason I was convinced Asami was going to join her father. It would only be a matter of time before she got fed up with Mako and Korra and turned on them. That would have been a great plot for season 2.
Then the last 15 minutes happened. Wow. Saying I was disappointed would be an understatement. Another Deux Ex Machina to finish the season.
Before the avatars showed up, I thought that since Korra still had her airbending, she would have to relearn each of the elements from scratch again. When she walked out, I thought she was going to go on some sort of spiritual journey across the modern world that would have been the premise for season 2. We would have gotten to see the world outside of Republic City, learned more about Zuko's kids, Sokka's kids, Aang's kids, etc. Maybe meet a certain guru. But no. It has to be a fucking Deux Ex Machina.
All that build up. All that drama completely ruined. And the most disappointing thing was that
Korra didn't even beat Amon. If he wanted, he could have went back into that tower, blood bend both Mako and Korra and take their bending for good.
Even though I love Korra, it makes her look really weak. It was also a pretty convenient way to take care of Amon, eh? You've got to be kidding me. And what's stopping Lieutenant Mustache from taking over the equalist cause?
Why was this series so rushed? The standard 20 episodes would have vastly improved this series. What the fuck happened? Do they honestly think they can make a season 2 now? Everything has been magically solved in those last 15 minutes. I need a drink.
