the finale was excellent! I was so hyped to see the downfall of Kuvira for so long! I also was in tears the entire time when Varrick "Did the Thing" and the Ceremony after. I just wish we could get more of Korra every friday for the next 5 years.
What.
ONLY FIVE.
If you're gonna make a wish like that, make it at least
ten years!

Dat
lesbian bi vibe at the end...
Fixed that for ya.
And it's not just a vibe.
It's motherfucking CANON.

I'll admit, season 1 (to me) felt a lot too much like the typical 'teenage angsty-show' at times, but it just got darker and darker, instead of staying with the 'awkward years' feeling.
And after a while, I didn't even care about the romance. At least not to the level I did for the original -- that was a straight path of "If you don't stick them together at the end, I will go down to the studio and
make you dammit."
But when that final implication hit the screen, my head first went *pop*, then my brain collapsed in on itself in a psychonova, then the new logic that formed went "You moron, this was plainly visible for
at least the entire 4th season. And it is epic."
Aside from utterly shattering barriers (and with an epic plot to boot) the Avatar world has changed how kids cartoons are made. Likely permanently.
And to top it off,
it was well-received. There is not a single legitimate reason left for any 'equality'-minded studio to
not do the same thing -- the only people protesting what happened are intolerant or people who are annoyed their fanbase didn't win out (and that happens in every show).
The best part is that, decades from now, when stuff like this isn't in the slightest bit controversial, (read: they could have kissed and all it would have elicited would have been a D'AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWWWWW moment), this is something I'll be able to show to any children/grandchildren/demonspawn I'm raising and say "This is where a lot of it began. The final push started here. And it never slowed down."
(I hope.)
My only sad points:
1. I'm pretty sure they aren't doing another ATLA series, so that means it's over. Q_Q
2. As far as the canonical ending goes, it looks like we won't see any little Asamis or Korras any time in the future, which is sad.
On the other hand, they're both bi, so if my hope of gene-splicing doesn't pan-out, there's still the chance they'll each find someone like Toph did, but that they'll stay with each other.
(Not because I think they
need to find guys, but because Korra having to put up with baby-Korra would be fucking hilarious. Imagine a kid with Asami's smarts and Korra's impulsiveness. AYE WANT.)
On a scale of 1/[THAT moment in One Piece where you realize "I'm crying about a fucking
ship"], I rate it THE SAME LEVEL.
I'm not a very emotional person for anything besides irritation/anger (ADD is a joy), but I was legitimately crying for this.
