Yeah, I figured it was; I paid a reasonable price for it and it was from a reputable YHJ seller. It's just a bit unusual to see images vary so much for mass market dakimakura covers, that I wasn't certain it wasn't a print. That's definitely a big problem with dakimakura covers if you can't find a sample image; luckily a lot of them do have one floating around somewhere on the internet, but you can very rarely see all the details or they only show facial shots. Glad I convinced you on the Fate cover; I was really worried about it myself, as I purchased the first red version on YHJ for close to 40000 yen, without a full body sample image. I was pleasantly surprised when I got it, but it was the biggest risk I've taken, and if I had waited a month or two, I could have saved a couple hundred bucks. But after you've been in the hobby for awhile, you start to get a feel for what's going to be rare and what can be picked up later.
I've learned to accept that if you buy it from a mainstream site like Hobby Search or AmiAmi, it's likely hair or some other such obstruction will be blocking the goods, however, it's a lot more unsettling when the same thing happens with smaller circles.
My two biggest disappointments was the Miku cover from ç´« æºäº; I paid a hefty price and was going purely on the face shot. It's still a nice cover, but not as raunchy as I was hoping for. And a
Machi Gurumi no Wana cover from Syrup. That cover likely would have been my favorite, but as you can tell, there's a definite lack of anatomy there. With as dirty as the cover otherwise was, I figured there was no way they'd pull such a stunt; I would have been been happy had there just been a barely noticeable slit as some circles do. But that's the danger of going with a sample sometimes, I guess.
Don't worry about the Twins, I haven't placed a bid on the cover for months. I'd probably buy it out if I found a 2WT at a reasonable price, but bidding wars are very dangerous with me as I always end up overpaying. However, if you recently won a certain Azusa cover I've had my eyes on for quite some time, then we've clashed in a bidding war.
ç´«æºäº's Mio is still regularly available from web stores for around 15000, so if you don't mind putting in a special order there's no reason to pay the high YHJ prices. I didn't know this my first go, and I really wanted it, so I paid close to 20000, I believe. I liked the cover so much that I later picked up another for 15000 from D-Stage. I never really got into K-On, so I don't have any preferences when it comes to how a character is designed; I just saw an amazing cover with art that I liked, so I bought it. I've been pleased with every NoReal cover I have, though they're certainly one of the circles that skimps on detail in the lower regions. I'm optimistic that the Asuza cover they just released will fix that; I ordered two.
I certainly feel you on knowing which covers you have; I could name which I have from my favorite circles, but there's a lot of random covers in there as well. I'm in the process of moving now, so they're all boxed up, but I'll have a dedicated room for my hobby goods. I eventually plan on hanging all my dakimakura covers up so I can easily browse through them; I'll definitely take more pictures then. I figure I probably have over 100 now, which doesn't touch upon your 200 or so, but I'm pleased with my collection. Hell, anyone who doesn't understand the fun that comes with collecting dakimakura covers would call me crazy, since I received my very first dakimakura cover in April of this year.
