Anyway, it works out in a plot-based sense.
The bitch's daughter, Luna, the heroine, has small tusks. Thus, she is an introverted bookworm with incredibly low self-esteem who, like most introverted fantasy girls, keeps a detailed journal to compensate for their lack of friends.
So, reading an introverts journal would, just like a cliche evil overlords, reveal their plans and greatest weaknesses.
