Haruhi's likely fifteen. That only makes sense. Likewise, I think you can approximate the same ages for everyone else (Mikuru being older, and yet younger since she's from the future). After all, Kyon has 15 years worth of memories, give or take, and everyone in the series remembers farther back than three years.
Think of the world as a computer program. Originally, unique people did not exist (people such as espers, aliens, and time travelers) with the exception of Haruhi herself. But, three years ago, Haruhi changed the program to allow for such things. Since she isn't aware of her powers, I don't think she just started over from scratch, but rather she rewrote the existing program to make the things she desired possible.
Before this, Mikuru was just a girl in the future, Nagato was probably something like a Borg from Star Trek(who would never have had any contact with Earth, mind you), and Koizumi was just as normal as Kyon. That's my theory, anyway.

manipulation of time is within her reach, as it is part of the Haruhi's universe
so if someone's age was 15, that someone is definitely 15
when the world was created 3 years ago, it also includes both the past and the future
that's why time travelers exist...
...but.. time travelers can't go back further than 3 years from Haruhi's time... that should contradict my theory though...

3 years ago, Haruhi caused some strange thing to happen to the universe, triggered by her realisation she was just another drop in a vast ocean. She didn't simultaneously destroy an old universe and create the current one back then, but she merely wished to see things out of the ordinary, hence the creation of closed spaces, time travelers, espers, and aliens. I would think that Haruhi would be somewhat aware of her own powers if she somehow destroyed the old universe and recreated it then.
If that is true, Haruhi is still a first year high school student. In Japan, most first year high-school students are 16 years old. I suppose 15 would be an acceptable answer too, but 16 should be correct.

yep, I think she should be either in 2nd grade or 3rd grade of high school, so she should be either 17 or 18 ^_^

Well, physically she is a healthy 15 years old girl (freshmen in the anime). The 3 years old world theory is just a speculation by the ESP (forgot his name).. At least in the anime, dunno if it's been confirmed in the novel..

her tsundere makes her not cute, but you just hate her.
oh, she is God, makes perfect sense.
let us not forget she is sucky is character portraying in all ways.

Anyway, the latest novels have introduced the possibility of Kyon, not Haruhi, being the one with superpowers. If you remember from the very first chapter of the first novel, Kyon said something about being the "sidekick", without any special powers, right? Just following along on the adventures of somebody who did.
And from the novels you would also know about Kyon's other "girlfriend", who has her own brigade thing claiming that she was the original God. What's the connection? Kyon hung out with her first, but then started hanging out with Haruhi. And when was the first time Kyon met Haruhi (chronologically)? 3 years ago, with the huge incident thing.
So the theory goes, Kyon actually has the ability to make a person "God". They have to have certain qualities in their personalities to qualify, and they are also the one who actually wields the power, but Kyon is the originator of it.

Its been a while since I've seen the anime (not that I look out for such specific things as age anyway...). But I voted 15 as well, seems right according to school age...

Also, isn't arguing that Haruhi is only three sort of a moot point? If she really is God, which we all know to be true (Or else), and you're using the fact that she 'created' the universe three years prior to the series, she had to have existed beforehand, and her age back then would be impossible to calculate.

Its a float in the air that she could be 15 or 16, but since time elapsed in the story, I go with 16 (and what could actually be 17).
