If I'm not mistaken the Japanese school system has 12 years as well, but they only have 3 years in high school, so that makes Haruhi 16 when it first started and 17 now...

Follow the school administration systems and it's should roughly be 15/16 age. Please consider the character's Birthday as well.

So hard to choose...Nya~ everyone comments "Freshmen"... but if your guys talking about later in the series she's 16 but if you saying in the start of the series then she's 15... so does it have an alternative that says "15/16"?
