long distance relationships

I managed to keep the relationship im in going for a year whilst i lived away due to certain circumstances. I think we only managed to keep it going because of the amount of effort we both had to put in, and i managed to try and see her at least once a month (but 5-6 hours of travelling by train and an hours bus ride can be a bitch). In other words they can work only if you and your partner are willing to put alot of effort and a few sacrifices to make it work, but what else is also important is trust in your partner.

I can say from experience that it does not work well.

However, I don't claim that it is absolutetly impossible to have one and maintain it but I'd sincerely advice folks against it in most cases.

I'm currently in a one helluva long distance relationship and I'm gonna take it in my stride. Whether it works or not. Been through a lot worse.

Its all about trust.
Long distance relationships are very hard to work out. There are always questions like "Is she cheating on me?" and such. People can be dishonest and not take things "seriously". One person can be truly in love, but the other can just consider it "fun".

Although this sounds somewhat ironic, Internet relationships(at least from my experience) are pretty intimate. After cybering, phonesex, etc, when you get to the real thing its incredible to release all that desire for the other person.

Mind that this is coming from a biased view seeing as my only girlfriend was/is long distance. ^^;

Simple Answer: Long distance relationships can work if both partners are 100% Loyal. That's almost never the case.

its hard and thus the messenger and webcam is invented problem is that sometimes you just want to be with that person and cant...frustrated you decide to break coz ITS SO FUCKIN PAINFUL....some webcam moments are fun tho XP

Truth. A lot of the time seeing her on webcam just makes it hurt even more cause you see her right there and you just wanna fucking grab her in your arms... But you can't... And other times it's really nice to see her for once. So they're a mixed blessing.

Well... it depends on how far a distance. my friend had a boyfriend who lived pretty far away, and they broke up because they couldn't meet eachother. It definetely depends on the distance, and how much you liek eachother, if you really feel that you're destined to be with eachother, then distance doesn't really matter.
But unfortunately most distant relationship doesn't end happily...

Trust me, try it if you want. But once shit happens, BREAK UP IMMEDIATELY.

The problem is that PHYSICAL CONTACT IS IMPORTANT. So when one tries to go without it, they get emotional. And once that happens, (the male usually) tries and get the girl to hate the guy. To allow a temporary break up, while he goes off to get laid. This will create a wonderful cycle of breaking up and getting back together.

That is my own experience.

Thats just assuming the male in question is shallow and single minded enough to put sex above all else.

Personally in the absence of my girlfriend I can get by just fine with hentai and my favorite hand. It has served me long and well.

Long distance relationships to me is like testing the edge of your relationship. Your trusts, your dedication and determination takes alot out from it. People are kinda fragile, hence the tendencies of breaking off when their counterparts are far away (think country wise). One thing for certain, if you manage to pull it off for quite sometime, it'll last long and perhaps life :3

Well, I guess the most of us experienced that before? xD It's the uneasiness and discomfort that kills, especially if the counterpart somehow is the pillar to your security. Ah well. That's life.
