The type i listen to the least is black metal. But i listen to prog metal the most. Why isn't it on the list? I mean, come on, Opeth, Ayreon, porcupine tree, dream theater, wolverine. You know...

Porcupine Tree isn't metal, its Progressive Rock.

As Moses said, Porcupine Tree is prog rock, not prog metal. Ayreon is actually also prog rock, with metal influences.
And as I've said before: I counted prog death into death, though it is the closest, although I know it's not the same. And don't tell me what Opeth is, I know, though they're one of my favorite bands. How do you think I found Ayreon and Porcupine Tree? also Bloodbath. And no, I don't know Wolverine ^^

for the ones that like viking metal...you should try Amon Amarth and Mithotyn...great bands as well.

Yeah, Dragonforce is a cool band, and since they were featured in GH3, they have become fairly well known.

Their music is energetic, and the two guitarists have amazing technique, but I don't think they have developed the depth or range to become a truly great metal band, such as Metallica, Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, etc.

They haven't been around THAT long and they have a lot of talent, so I'm hoping they grow as a band and are able to expand their range and depth and continue to improve.

I'm a fan of their music, but I think that after the commercial success of Inhuman Rampage, they are going to need to grow as a group in order to stay compelling and significant.

Amon Amarth is melodic death btw, with influences of nord mythology.

Yes, i know. But i added them anyway because of the metal Elements they've had in they're most recent songs. I contribute it to Steven Wilson Working with Opeth. Speaking of which, they team up made my all time favorite Opeth album: Blackwater Park and my second favorite: Damnation.



I can accept Ayreon being Prog Metal. But i suppose a more accurate genre would be "Opera Rock". I'm not exactly telling you what opeth is, i'm quite sure that you are very much aware of they're genre. And i also know that you know that you can't really categorize Opeth under any one genre. But that's a different discussion for a different time. Bloodbath (as i'm sure your aware of) is pure Scandinavian death metal and i like it quite a bit. Wolverine

I like all metal pretty much, listening to some Cancer bats right now, Saw Opeth in concert a few months ago, and going to see metallica/lamb of god in december. Good times for all!

The only one I remotely liked was Evuleitie. I'm not really into death metal, and Slayer is about at the edge of how hard I like metal.

Ya i like Eluveitie they are pretty good, Its mainly their folk instrumentals that I like though. Ive heard a couple of thoes other bands, but Eluveitie is the only one that stands outs for me.

I OVE Eluveitie and Dying Fetus, great bands, Kataklysm is OK I guess... a little too much of the same though, but I've never heard the first one

Gorgoroth is an OK band ^^ When it comes to black metal I listen to: Dimmu Borgir, Behemoth, Gorgoroth and Deicide.
I've liked Amon for several years, and I saw them live at metaltown! they're awesome live!!!

In my country...we cant see good metal bands in live, very often...

Glam metal is fun, but not my favorite.

The Crue, Whitesnake, Zodiac Mindwarp Rebellion.

Mayhem are just plain mainstream black metal psychoes, nothing special. but they do put up great shows. Here in Sweden, where most good metal is from, I have the chance to see alot of bands. I went to MetalTown and saw loads of my fav bands, I saw In Flames in my hometown 2 years ago. I'm going to see Dark Tranquillity in November, Opeth in December, Dragonforce and Turisas in February. And also, I'm going to miss it but anyway, Slipknot and Children of Bodom is playing near me in November.

As for Glam rock/metal... I'm not very fond of such music...

@RandomNorwegian: I forgot about Black metal and Doom Metal, and I was weird and counted Power into Heavy/thrash.
Black Metal has some relatively good bands, such as Dimmu Borgir. Although Deicide is awesome! Doom Metal... I've only heard one good band, and they are one of my favorites, namely Draconian. And when it comes to Power Metal I only like Dragonforce, and the combination bands Elvenking and Falconer.

Metallica has some good song, but are, in my opinion, pretty mainstream... I prefer the REAL metal, the scream/growl metal! :twisted:
