There is a festival outside the airbase right now for 4th of july... that is right! JAPANESE are celebrating our independence day!

Whatever floats their boat. All I know, is that I'm working and then spending the rest of the day on here...which pretty much sums up every holiday. Yaaay.

Meh. I haven't done anything special for the Fourth in years. I usually just do the same old things, and after dark I walk outside and try to catch all the fireworks that go off around me in the distance.

Might not even do that this year though because I'm actually pretty sick. -_-

I am hoping by some miracle my commander isn't an ass and lets me get off to go see some fireworks. I can't shoot any myself though unless I find a place to shoot them outside the airbase, but people here are nice so I'm sure they will let me shoot them in the street infront of the shops. (little ones anyways)

Happy 4th of July! Unfortunately we're not gonna be getting a fireworks show until the 24th since its done by the college that I'm at, but I do find it odd that they don't do it on the 4th. Anyways we're gonna make do with the only kind of fireworks we can buy and just party our asses off and get really drunk lol ^^.

Yes you are lol funny how there's Americans who don't know their own history, but lucky for you I'm gonna give you a history lesson. July 4th is supposed to represent Independence Day however it wasn't really the actual day on when the Americans declared their Independence from the British. It was on July 2, 1776 when the 13 Colonies (before they joined together and became America) decided to declare Independence from the British. So they requested a document to explain their reasoning behind this decision, which is known as the Declaration of Independence written by Thomas Jefferson. It was debated and finally approved on July 4, 1776 but due to the British attacking near them they had to flee to another location. So none of the Americans shot fireworks or celebrated till July 8, 1776 when it was first publicly read, also the actual signing of the document didn't take place until August 2, 1776.

On a side note Thomas Jefferson (author) and John Adams (editor) both died on July 4th, kinda odd huh. Anyways hopefully the information that I gave you is correct, too bad my all knowing dad isn't here to help me out lol.
