I just got myself a refurb MacBook!
2.4Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB RAM
500GB HDD
X3100 + 256MB
Mac OS X 10.6.1
I'm new to OS X, and this will take time getting used to, but I'm loving it so far. I guess this makes me a "switcher". :D
No doubt there will be plenty of flaming underneath. I know what it's like for Mac users, looking at the comments posted every time Engadget posts an article on anything Apple does, but I don't think any of of them used a Mac properly before making comments.
I'm going to experience this first hand before I say anything. I've used Windows 7 and it's great, and now I'll see for myself how good OS X really is. As I said, everything feels great so far.
Anyone else here a Mac user?

Im not but my sister is, she says it quite amazing with its super HQ screen and the fact it can rarley and if even get a virus.
I dont like the fact it cant play alot of games that Windows can, like WoW and such.

I remember a pic or something saying that no one wants to make virus for mac cause its a piece of shit. Personally im waiting to be enlightened too cause i need to play some tohou.

It is technically possible to get a virus for the Mac, all you need is the proper coding and your in. But since Windows is the more dominant system, hackers won't bother with the Mac until it gets too popular.

You might want to recheck your facts.
Anyway what you've got to understand is that there is no such thing as an unhackable OS - if you can make it you can break it.
I hate how people think just because they use Linux or OS X think they're untouchable.
Anyway if you want to show off your Mac you're better off posting in a Mac forum where you can get the bootlicking otherwise best not bang on about it and preach uninformed PR dispensed by Apple.

I have no intention on starting an argument due to personal preferences. I find your personal attacks idiotic. Aim it at the machine, not the user. It's very immature of you, and doesn't make your case any more convincing.
Also, I think you should read your article and check again just what hole was being exploited. Is it really the OS?

Anyone with a brain builds themselves, unless they're lazy.
As for laptops, Dell and Apple seem to have awesome build quality. HP, I'd only touch their business units.
As for your invalid virus arguments, unix can be exploited, just as windows can. It's generally not though, based on the average user's knowledge. Nothing to do with how "leet" the individual OS is.
The average windows user is at best, someone that uses word regularly and looks at porn here and there. Oh exploitable, so on.
Linux generally takes a fair amount of effort to setup, let alone use - would your average joe use it? no.
And FYI, a dell U2410 looks better than an apple cinema display, for about half the price.
Shotgunorg is pretty much spot on though - not much to brag about in a mac besides external build these days (even then, an Adamo unit feels nicer) mainly because it's all X86 based anyhow. You're just paying for OSX and a few bells and whistles.

The only reason why I wouldn't buy a Mac is because of it's lack of customizability (if that is even a word) and games. Either than that, Macs are pretty good at music and image editing based stuff.

Im also a mac user OP, in fact, I have the same macbook you do! I got it a month ago, and I love it. As far as words of wisdom for you, the ONLY way to play games that aren't made for mac is by using boot camp and a windows system. Don't go down the road I did, trying to play free to play games (RoM, maplestory, f.e.a.r. etc) by using crossover and the windows version. Unless you buy it for $20 USD, the free trial is only 30 days. Do not pirate any games with bittorrent or try any shenanigans like that, because you will get fucked over one way or another, trust me. The only way to play windows games are to buy a windows OS at the store, and buy windows games at the store. As far as WoW, I downloaded the free trial some days ago to say hi to some of my old gaming buddies, and I was astounded at how well the game ran. With all settings on Maximum (except for shadow quality) I had about 60 fps all the time and almost seamless play. When I put all settings on low, I got up to 130 fps. While playing WoW press [ to record what is going on on your screen. (Make cool movies of yourself killing bears!)

Contrary to the popular saying "It just works.", I have seen Macs crash and get errors just like PCs. It's pretty ignorant to also say there are no viruses for Macs. There are. Not as much as Windows, but it's getting there.

Macs pretty much are PCs. But, I've had way too many Mac users go our of their way to try to correct me when I call Mac, a PC. People see things differently and think Macs are way different then a PC. The problem lies in the fact that the don't know much about computers in the first place.
Mac and PC aren't very much different. They use Intel processors just like PCs. They even use the same graphic cards as PC. The insides is mostly the same. The main difference is the OS. Mac OS or Windows. You already know that you can install windows on your Mac via bootcamp. You can pretty much do the same vice verse for dual boot.
I don't hate Macs, but I would never get one because of their prices. For a $2k Mac, I can build 2-3 PC with the exact same specs or better. Macs are aimed for people who have money but don't know the differences between a Mac and a PC.

That's not anti-Mac fanboyism, that's Windows fanboyism expressed through comments against Macs. Programs like that exist because a lot of games are only released for (consoles and) PCs.
But Macs definitely are expensive. You think $2499 is expensive for a MacBook Pro? Start improving the (hard/soft)ware, and quickly you're OVER FIVE THOUSAAAAAND.
Especially export prices seem high. Almost everything Apple-related costs nearly and sometimes even more than twice as much in Belgium. (17" Pro in US: +/- €1300. In BE: +/- €2400. WTF?)
Whatever the case, next year my cousin is going to college (or whatever is the best English translation for Hogeschool. Literally it's high school, but that's something completely different) and it's almost impossible to work there without a Mac so a lot of my uncle's cash is going to go into his new Mac(Book).
Personally I'm doing my higher education fine with a PC.
To FINALLY end this post, I recently got home from New York where I visited the Apple Store and HOLY SHIT.

Actually I think some lawsuit was settled where windows now has to make a program that emulates Mac OS X, since apple made Boot Camp.

That doesn't make sense to me, considering that Apple doesn't want OS X run on anything else besides its own hardware. If that were true, there wouldn't be a lawsuit filed against Psystar for making Hackintoshes.

Currently, it's against Mac OS X's EULA to run it on machines that do not contain a Logic Board.

Remember when judges in Europe ruled that Microsoft has to remove IE from the Europe version of Windows 7? Judges didn't know better. Heck, they don't even know that tons of casual users won't even know how to download another browser such as firefox without first using IE to get to the firefox homepage.
Judges are quick to rule it as a monopoly, but is it really a monopoly to put your own company's browser into your own OS? It's more of a way for the company to save money instead of paying another company for their browser.
The problem here is that judges lacked common computer knowledge. And lawyers took advantage of it.
