Sure, I'll admit that I care about my post count as well as my rep, but when I finally get some status, I want to have earned it by having coherent, thought out replies (even if sometimes I sneak in a generic reply, but then again, which one of you hasn't done that?).

If I had truly wanted an Elite status just to have it, I would have had it by now. I just didn't want to spam every topic with a single word, sentence, or nonsense.

And if you're going to put -^This^- at least add something to it.

Yes...that too annoys me to no end. Some users have no common sense. I don't currently have any ideas for people that do this, but I agree with ShaggyJebus on most of what he said.

Well, to be exact, I hate every stupid post that doesn't even have any sense of thought given to it. Heck, I want those posts deleted! But there's just NO USE in contemplating about it. I'd just wait for what the Admins have in store for us and hope that this issue would be dealt upon by then.

so what I understand from most of the replies is that a majority of the users here dislike it in some form or another. DO we have any soloutions besides post count cap (which I think is a terrible idea)? Perhaps making Random not count towards post count either or, simply have a mod dedicated to chasing down stupid spam?

I agree with you to a point Waar, from what I can tell you are saying all necro in general. Even in the IB, it's pointless to necropost unless you have something importing to add don't bump a long dead thread.

honestly dude, i enjoy a few of your posts every now and then, esp when they have content but i dislike your way of posting very much. Perhaps you got it from /b/ but it really makes you look like your shit is weak and opinions don't matter as much as some other more eloquent users. well most people really just post randomly just to increase their counter (count me in to them if you want)
i just remember the case where there's been the thread about the connect the story in ib and here at the random thread and some people just kept posting here to increase their post count
well i kinda pisses (me) off that they spam everywhere where they're able to come closer to an elite, elder or just to annoy the others

OKay to tell you the truth I'm glad Incoherent Babbling exists. If not I bet I'll be one of Spammers that deserves a ban or two. True I may not be able to produce my own great and original opinion, that may be cause my opnion has already been voiced and I just want to agree with the person who said it for me. Hence the "^This" thing going around. When outside of Incoherent Babbling, I try my best to stay on the lines of constructive replies, so to keep the thread alive.

Sure everyone (well nearly everyone) wants a cool title under their name to gain some recognition. But at least gain it through proper and sensible means.

that's why i think there should be more conditions to become an elite than just posting 500 times

Fakku is becoming more popular, and I'm sure when the ranks were created, it took a while to make 500 posts. Now, it doesn't take that much time, because there are lots of sections and more users to talk to.

I have seen forums that had to change their rankings over time because the site got more popular. Maybe Fakku will need to do the same in the future. It would suck if every other member was an Elite or an Elder.

Or maybe add a few. Like make Elite 1000 and add a new title, "Fakker" at 500. :P

It was suggested a few times already with no luck. I don't want to bother bringing it up again but if you want, go ahead make a thread in the feedback section. I had good titles too, damn them.

How about removing the Elite and Elder status? That would solve the problem... However I think having 500 post to reach Elite and 1000 post to reach Elder should not be raised. Even with raising post counts for the status I'm sure the problem would not end or might get worse since the higher requirement for it. Sure there are some people who usually post silly threads, but most of the time they will disappear. From what I have saw most people here with Elite and Elder status are the ones who seem to be very committed to Fakku. Rather than increasing the post count its better to just remove the status from those who really post just to raise their post count or give them the title 'SPAMMER'.

Banning is not a good idea either, I don't think that's how Fakku admins would like to treat its community unless you're really annoying and causing trouble to the community here. Also for that reason why I love the Forums here, the mods and admins are nice and not too strict like some other sites...That's what makes the forum and the community special. Having a dedicated mod looking after the Random section the best option to avoid spamming.

Anyway I don't have much so called problem since I think the thread starter wanted to share the things they found in the net with their fellow Fakku member. I've only seen a few that I would consider 'what's the point of this thread?' but I might also be guilty of doing it but never in my mind I have any intention of raising my post count, just wanting to share with the nice folks here.

If I'm not mistaken, last time it was allowed to have the same thread in random section given that the thread with the same title is long dead.

Heh, before we lost database I had clawed my way up to elite, but that was almost entirely due to motemote posts (Hinagiku go!). Without it, it'll take me quite to a while to even get to 500, so I don't think the bar is too low. If people don't spam excessively everywhere, 500 posts do take a while to get to. Especially if you spend way too much time in IB.

Like tsuyoshiro, I got my 300 from Motemote. Then the time warp made me go back to 5. Took a while to get back maybe about a little bit less than a month, not too sure. If users are just spamming to get the Elite or Elder status, why not remove that and put back the custom titles. I could see that as a possibility to stop spamming.

i agree with you for sure i know my thread in travel and culture is me posting a lot but that is the nature of the thread
