Run them over?

Seriously talking, I was on my way home from work cruising at about 55m/h(88km/h), I'm passing the local fair ground which happens to be hosting the county fair this week, the fairs closed for the night all is quiet, and there is a traffic light at the entrance, the light is green I'm cruising down the road, when I'm about 75 feet from the light I notice something there are people walking across the road. I'm 50 feet away when I swerve into the right lane and horn blasting at them.

Do you think it is valuable to run someone over for being that stupid?

I was in a similar situation except in daylight and almost ran over a kid on a bike that just barreled onto the street even though it was green for me. (I couldn't see due to the bushes and tree at the corner.) Fucking stupid of the kid, but not worth killing for.

I'm speaking in a general term that if it goes to trial would you get off of any major charges.

Seeing as you can still get sued/lose your license/get jail time, it's not something I'd recommend.

You're supposed to yield to pedestrians, however if they're not crossing on a crosswalk then it's considered J-walking.

You wouldn't be at fault, but you'd have to live with the idea you accidentally killed somebody.

It's a 4 lane bypass there is no cross walk there.

I don't know. While running the bastards over is enticing, I'd recommend avoiding it, unless of course it was an opportune situation. If there was a chance that you could get off because the shits "just happened to be in your way" I see no reason as to why you shouldn't end them.

Remember, you can get away with killing someone if it is legally justified.

Had a similar thing happend with a friend and myself in the car. There was a dumbass trying to cross the highway when it was green for us. Being the road rage monster that I am I rolled down my window and flipped him off. >.<

keep trying to explain it... I'm sure people will see your point and decide killing a bunch of people BECAUSE YOU'RE IN A HURRY is a good idea. What leads you to believe you would get away with it? you had enough time to notice them and not hit them... or were you just posting so that people would agree with you again? This is the type of topic you need to avoid, few people seem to agree with your social commentary. Next time you want to comment on something like this try a general statement like "don't you hate pedestrians who j-walk like it's their right".

Wow....idiots stumbling out onto the road after a fair? Wow that never happens right? Because we just live in a word with no alcohol. And people certainly never drink enough to cause them to make poor decisions. And if those things do happen we kill everyone any time they make a bad choice right? 55 miles an hour is the speed limit and quite frankly is slow for me(I normally drive about 90), I'm cruising along in no hurry, and I do believe that it is highly possible you have not been in a situation like this before. Not noticing someone till you are about 75 feet away isn't very much time to react, at that speed, is moving at roughly 80 feet per second. This all happened within a matter of a second. I could have easily had hit them as I did avoid them. I'm not saying I wouldn't get away free from it, if I did, but seeing as how traffic laws are, if I had hit them would things be different, yes chances are I would be taken to jail, but then would I be convicted of a crime? the possibility is no, and is just as likely as it is yes.

He's not saying should he hit them without even trying to avoid them. He's saying if he did accidentally hit them, do they deserve it for being so stupid?

HentaiElder I never said anything about being in a hurry. Would I feel bad if I did do it, yes, I don't think they would deserve it. But if it was to come down to it, as I said, you are about 75 feet away and moving at about 80 feet a second, there is not much time to react, as well, think about it from a pedestrian's point of view. I've been on the other end of this before, a pedestrian has the ability to see a car coming at them from a good 500 feet away at this specific intersection, even more so when it is light out. Would you really venture out into the middle of the road when you see a car coming. Hell even at midnight, when there is little traffic would you not check for oncoming vehicles before you cross, even a group of people(I speculate the party to have been around 7 or so), someone would possibly be smart enough to think hey there could be a car coming lets check.
